Thread: And So 'Tis Goobye... For Now...

Default And So 'Tis Goobye... For Now...

    Ahhhhhhhh. It finally came.

I was near the end of a VH/VH Julii campaign (and kicking tail of course), when I just got burnt out.

Reeling and in denial, I started a seleucid campaign (arguably one of the hardest at first)... only to find myself burnt in less than twenty turns.

    Until EB is ready...

    Until BI is available...

I am moving to EVE Online. I am a 'one-game-at-a-time-addict': I play one game until it fries me out after I reach max potential more than once.

I have enjoyed your company these months.

    And so 'tis goodbye...

    for now...

You're leaving because you lost 2 campaigns in a row? I'd be happy that the game was still challenging me (I assume you are an experienced player, my game still challenges me and I still continue to play, even in stalemate conditions, almost trench-like wars where no-one can break through.)

Burnt out doesn't mean lost. It means that one can no longer muster the interest to continue playing.

Ohhh, I've had that, at 40 or so provinces, yeah I just ditched the game, no point finishing it, I can;t even bring myself to play a turn.

I hate when that happens... a big chunk of my life just disappears... Ya, I should get a life huh?... I stopped playing for a good few months (waiting for EB) untill just recently. The Extended Greek mod by DimeBagHo on the TW forums got me interested so I started a great new Greek campaign. Still pretty happy with it. Woopdeedoo... that is the story of my RTW life... 'cause you all needed to know... choo choo ch'boogie

Burn out happens. I've played every faction now but each for about 10 years or so usually netting 25-30 province in that time. I like the starting position for the challenge and excitement of a rush.

I hate the late game grind in which victory is assured so much that at a 10:1 kill ratio in the enemy favor, you'd still kill em in the end.

I've tried multiple times doing a campaign and never completing them - I really can't even play a full 15 Province campaign anymore; there's no way I could have ever finished a full Imperial Campaign. Once you get a certain amount of provinces it's just a foregone conclusion and just a chore to continue to play; you know you'll win.

I`ve started campaigns with all the playable factions, but I have only completed one of them, my first Julii campaign.

When you have about 20 provinces, you have by far the best military.

An idea was that in the opposite side of the map, a superpower growed parallell with you, and could challenge you in the end of the game, perhaps take Rome before you.

My Egyptian campaign (burnt out) I stretched from Thapsus to Sarmatia. My plan was to take Carthage from Scipii and Sicily and then Rome lol, but I got bored just before finishing.

    Divinus Arma,
Sorry to see you go but I know you´ll be back. I know that feeling of fulfillment when you have made a large empire and the game doesn´t give you anymore challenges. TW has always had this problem IMO except for STW which I finished alot. I miss the spawning of faction, the mongol invasion etc kind of feature in RTW. Ok, so we have the gladiator rebellions but anyway. With Stw I finished maybee 50% of my games, with MTW maybee 10 and with RTW I´ve just finished one campaign, like you, my first as the Julii. Playing RTR which opens up a good play of building a Parthian or Seleucian empire in the east. The lands are wast, pop´s booming and highly rebellious so I think this scene will keep me occupied until EB comes out. Take care!

I agree whoever said theres a point in the game were campaigns get boring. Its usally were you know youve won, or when theres about 4/5 of you left resulting in one big mish mash. Wich in my opinion is just boring.

I'll probably be ghosting and popping up here and there at the Org. You folks always crack me up, so its worth my time to drop by. And I still have a guide to finish...

I just hope EB overcomes the recent issue they encountered.

If you see my handle alsewhere or in EVE, you'll know it's me. There is but one Divinus Arma. I'm sure I'll be exerting the Roman/Latin influence over there where I can (culturally of course!). The time period is just too incredible to let go.

I hope to see a few of you out there. Search my name in EVE if you ever muster the will.

    As Always, Warmest Regards,

    Divinus Arma

Since all of us here are game community oriented, I'd suggest joining me over at EVE (in addition to your stay at the Org, of course). Sure, it's not RTW or MTW, and it is in fact a whole other animal. So what? Join a corporation there and work your way up to be a commander of real people in combat against other real people. Massive fleets with real folks... pretty darn cool.

I'm already hunting to join a quality corp.

No, just tieing up loose ends here and there. I said I would be ghosting and popping in from time to time.

I propose that the people who read this thread from now on call the condition "Pyrrhic."

Because Pyrrhus was described as a great general and a brave adventurer who, unfortunately, never completed a single one of his major campaigns...

    Agreed? Vote!

Divinus, make a poll about this, please???

I'll miss your strategy guides and your cultured voice. I'll miss you. Farewell, fellow strategist. Let us wait for EB.

In normalspeak, I didn't complete either my Julii or my Macedonian campaigns either. Lost interest in them. But I'm not getting that for Scythia. Strange. I'll stay on RTW forever, that's for sure, though.
