Its gotta be Carthage. Start with a few scattered colonies and have to forge an empire. But I do agree that once you take Italy (and you can very early in the game with Carthage) the biggest threat is out of the way. However, if you sit back and watch for a while after you kill the Romans. Odd things begin happening in barbarian country...
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups...

I like Germania and the way they have to rush en masse somewhere before their economy collapses. It's so authentic, like the old Helvetii invasions. That, and the fact that they're the only barbarian faction with good starter phalanxes that can pwn anything on their borders whether offensive or defensive. And the axemen, ohh the axemen...

Germania, because Chosen Archers only take one turn to build, unlike the Archer Warbands of Gaul.
Currently, the Brutii. I like infantry and pila units are just way too much fun to use.I like the balance in the early Roman armies. Hastati and Principe and such.

I still don`t think anyone will admit that Egypt is their favourite faction in the game!Originally Posted by PseRamesses

Some says that Egypt is historically inaccurate(or something like that), how would you like Egypt to be in RTW?
You probably knows more about Egypt than any other person at these forums!

Well, the Egypt in RTW is egypt under the Ptolematic era, and it was more or less a greek state, the royal family where greeks, the architecture greek, cultural ideals greek... etc, etc.Originally Posted by Viking

And I think the main reason people don't really like playing the Egyptians (or Ptolemys as they are known in some patches and mods) is because they aren't that interesting or funny. And they have far to much civil unrest.

The minute i joined and revived the Scythia thread, everyone started that campaign
Also, if i could vote, I would vote either Scythia or the Seleucids.
Scipii have cool wolf on their banner (and the best fleet)!
Seems like The Seleucid Empire crushed all the other the other factions in this poll.
If it only could do this in the campaign game...
Germania ended up as a strong number 2.
Either Germania or Carthage would have got my second vote.

Wait...
Dang it. I can't even do a simple poll right.

I prefer the Seluecids, bad starting position, but the best army in the game. Nothing has the same mix of light and heavy cavalry, phalanxes, heavy infantry, elephants, archers and seige.

Seleucids because you can make both good cav and infantry armies with them (or the best balanced army in the game).
Oh yea and you can't run out of money with them (sometimes a problem because your generals start getting bad traits after 50,000$)
Really, I've noticed a bit of corruption in my 2,500,000 denarii game as Egyptians, (YES, THATS RIGHT 2.5 MILLION DENARII)
How did you manage that?
BTW a good way to manage your wealth is to wage wars on four fronts or so. Puts you in a bit of a pickle every now and then, but it definately slows down your money making.

Seleucids.
Why? You can pretty much see everyone else who has posted on this.

Greeks !
Come on, they ARE the Greeks. They are the heirs of the hellenist period, they have phalanx, their armoured hoplite just look good, they are cultured, they are civilized, they are at the center of the map.
How can you NOT love them ?
If violence didn't solve your problem... well, you just haven't been violent enough.
Fair point, I'm enjoying a Macedon campaign at the moment.
I can't believe so many like the seleucid empire... like me! They have great units. Cataphracts, Elephants, what more could you want?
