Go to your RTW folder. Open the preference.txt file. Scan for the "Minimal_UI: FALSE" line. Change it to "Minimal_UI: TRUE". Then save.

You can also press the F keys (F5 F6 F7 iirc) and hide even the Unit cards, Minimap and Auto-hide the formation screen so you can have a clear look at the battlefield for screens. :)
