    Default Headbangers?

I remember there were more than a few headbangers on this forum("headbanger" - you know what I mean), remember those threads about guitars, bands etc?

Scandinavian metal rulz... Bodom, In Flames, Arch enemy etc, etc.

Still you can't beat classic heavy metal like Maiden and old school Metallica.

I don't really like them that much, just not really my type. They are from Portugal I believe.

Have you heard Arch enemy? If not you definately should get some of their stuff, really good. Though most of their songs are growling lyrics - you know black/death metal - so if you don't like that form of music you may not like them. The guitar work is awesome though.

    Check out Ozzfest this year:

Iron Maiden are playing only songs from their first four albums!

    That is going to rock!

In other news, Dio has signed on to be in Jack Black's movie about Tenacious D, "Pick of Destiny".

Ah Ozzy and Black Sabbath are classic. I am so glad they have reformed with original line up and doing another album!!!!!

Vol 4, Paranoid and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath are classic albums, awesome.

And Ozzy's solo stuff wasn't bad, Crazy Train rulz. Randy Rhoads was a very good guitar player.

Although I love most types of music, Metal in most (if not all) of it's varieties will always be my main love.

I first really got into it at the tail end of the NWOBHM scene, and the start of the thrash scene, but had already been listening to a lot of the old school bands. It's nice to see so many others who listen to the same type of music as myself.

You got to see them live! Though it may take some effort to bang your head and not looking at Angela.

A bit too aggressive for me. I think it'd be better if everyone just peaced out...

    *dances with flowers*

Seriously though, my tastes extend to Zeppelin, Sabbath and early Metallica, but not much beyond that. I've never liked Maiden-don't get on with the 'gallop'.

    BTW I forgot to mention

I recently purchased the new Ozzy Box Set, which contained a coupon for a buy-one-get-one free to the 2005 Oz-Fest.

I will not be able to attend due to work conflicts, but . . .

If anybody plans on attending Oz-Fest 2005 and wants to get a free ticket please let me know and I'll mail my coupon to you.

I think Arch Enemy is overrated. I heard the latest single the other day and was actually pissed right off to hear Angela's vocals doctored all to hell by the computer. She sounds Otep. The riffage in that song wasn't bad at all, though. Not as brutal as I usually take it, but it was enough to get a little bounce going.

Not to be immodest, but it seems I'm the biggest metalhead (regional slang) here. Is there anyone else here who's into extreme metal?

I find it interesting all the different names for headbangers in different areas.

Where I grew up (Ontario), we were called metalheads or simply freaks (as distinguished from hippies, who were called 'Peace freaks'). In other parts of the province, we were called skids or headbangers. Any other ones I'm missing?

Mophead and hair farmer, but those aren't necessarily metalheads.

    @Templar Knight: Gimme an example.

Yes EA - EXACTLY the same! Lucky bast if you're going. They are doing it because of the DVD they released celebrating the early years. You are in for some hardcore Maiden music from their early and pretty much best time.

Well, they are not as brutal as some, but I do not like real hardcore death metal like Akercoke - far too much for me.

    Damn, I only recognise 2 or 3... Man, I need a refresh...

    Recently heard kick-ass music:
Voivod - Voivod (the last album, Newsted on bass, very oldschool)
Ministry - Houses of the mole (Ministry at their best)
Cathedral - don't remember the name.... (doom metal's finest)
Kreator - Enemy of God (kick assssss.....)
