When a PM is sent, the receiver may also get an e-mail copy.

The header of those e-mails read:

Email Generated by Ikonboard
(Replies will be sent to TosaInu, please specify moderator).

Meaning that plain replying will deliver the message to me.

I have received 1 message two weeks ago and 2 in the last few days. Not that it bothers me to receive e-mail, but private messages are not private messages anymore when nosey third parties stick their nose in it.

This is how all off the box installs of Ikonboard forums, and maybe also other messageboards work. This is not due to customization of forum software. Be careful when replying e-mails: check To.

Your best course of action in responding to such an email is to not reply. Instead, come to these forums, go to your Inbox and respond to the PM with a reply PM.

The other reason to do this is that the email loses all the iBcode formatting and emoticons. The PM will show the message as the sender intended.
