I'll start off by saying that the screenshot is awesome. Moreover, this is just an EARLY PS3 game. Does anyone remember PS2 games from 2002 or 2003, or how their graphics were quite inferior to the graphics of present day PS@ games? So that is most likely not a very good image of the all the PS3's power. Next, the XBOX 360, meaning it will go full circle from being chunky and having weak game... to being smaller and having weak games (plus it's Microsoft). The revolution seems like a good prospect, but if games are just like they are now (somewhat childish) I don't see myself approaching it.
As for PC games, no they won't be beaten by any console game, simple because of the freedom given to computer games compared to console gamers.

EDIT: I've just seen what the PS3 will look like, and I'm going to have toagree that the silver one looks like a scanner.

The revolution will be 3 times as powerful as the cube, the PS3 will be 30 times as powerfull as the PS2. I hope nintendo knows what they are doing, I am still a nintendo fanboy at heart.

The PS3 looks impressive but I'm skeptical as to whether some of those in-game clips aren't 'rigged' so as to provide an unrealistic impression of what gamers can expect to see all the time onscreen. Meaning I'm almost of the mindset that some of those sequences were scripted demos designed to show off graphics and rendering ability without the presence of things like AI, dynamic sound, typical sized maps/levels, etc., all of which would seriously affect the framerate.

One thing for sure is that Nintendo is probably going to be the only manufacturer to make money off of each console sold. They were the only one to do so with the current generation of consoles. The Gamecube is a marvel of modern engineering, efficiency and cost effectiveness and the Revolution looks to be more of the same.

Sony and MS are once again going to lose money on each PS3 and XB360 sold, and probably moreseo than they did with the PS2 and XB. Both consoles are so loaded with state of the art chips and whatnot that they might as well be specialized multimedia PCs! Incurring a loss on each unit sold is not a problem provided the games sell well but MS could be in serious trouble if they repeat the XBox's debut and fail to get several AAA titles out the door as soon as the XB360 ships.

Manufacturers always do rigged things. Remember RTW? It was all dressed up in bells and ribbons, but we get the final product and find the AI is just about capable of running into a brick wall, rather than fighting you with the tactical superiority of Alexander the Great. It will probably be the same with the 'Next Generation Consoles'.

Yeah that's the problem, they're like printers, they sell you the hardware cheap but then make you pay through the nose for the software.

New console games cost an outrageous AU$120 but I can go into my local EB store and buy slightly out of date budget PC titles for $7.75.

I agree with you totally...but has anyone else realised something?

This site contains people knowledgable about compututing but how effective IS cell? I mean isn't a lot of processors going to have a high latency? And surely without some really high tech stuff it's all going to cost a fortune nd they're going to lose a lot of money per unit sold? Then when the price comes down...oh the pain.

I think Xbox 360 will have good games but it looks like PS3 is going to wipe the floor again unless MS has something up it's sleeve.

Has nyone else realsied that power doesn't mean too much a lot of the time? The TV has quite a small resolution so you don't need a gigantic increase in power to get a good frame rate...

If I am wrong...please correct me...I have no qualifications of any sort

The more advanced television sets have about the same resolution as a monitor, I believe the new consoles will support up to 1028:7sumthing. Xbox is dead and burried if you ask me, the ps3 is twice as powerfull. We may see something interesting from nintendo, only 3 times as powerful as the cube but nintendo have always been strange, and succesful.

Yeah but how many TVs are there out there that support it? Only one of my friends has a HDTV and I go to a relatively decent school...the kids are pretty rich ( well some of them)

I just said power is not that important...it depends on how you use that power I think...and the games.

Revolution will probably work out well...as Ninty has a good way with making good games, a cheap console that they make money out of and they may well use this power more efficiently as opposed to brute force

That killzone image isn't an in-game screenshot. It's a prerendered movie. I'd advise you to disregard it entirely.

What I like about the Revolution is that it will be backwards compatible with all past Nintendo games (NES, SNES, GB, GBC, N64, etc...). The cartridge games will be made downloadable off the internet (I'm guessing you'll then burn them to a CD/DVD. Might be able to download them straight to Hard Drive - not sure yet.)

This is great, because newer consoler games don't really do anything for me, whereas I love reliving my past NES/SNES/GC/64 days.

If I had the money, I would most likely buy the revolution for this fact alone.
