    Default Campaign map pixel distance?

    Hi All,

I apologize if this has been answered before but my search turned up nothing, probably bacause I don't know how to ask it.

I want to create a new campaign map from scratch, but am curious how big a single pixel is. 1 pixel = 50 x 50 km? I know the distance I want to have between regions & cities, but I don't know how many pixels it translates to.

    Any help would be appreciated.

hm, I'm really not sure, you might want to try asking in the single player forums...

You can get a rough estimate by looking at the stock map. The geographical area is fairly well documented, and if you open up the base map in a paint program, it will tell you how many pixels across it is.

The important thing is the relative distances compared to the movement rates of your armies. If you make a bigger map ( as was done with Magnus Mundus ) then you may need to tweak the movement rates on the strategy map to make it playable. Otherwise, it takes forever to move anywhere!!!

Thanks for the ideas. Looks like I may have guessed right regarding 50km. Another post somewhere states that the pixel distance between Rome & Tarantum is 10 squares, and the real world distance is approximately 500 km. (Rome to modern-day Taranto) Good enough for me. . . I'd rather not have to futz with movement rates just yet.
