Yes, I want Medieval Total War in 3D.

3D sucks IMO. Have you seen how their legs go through the shields. It destroys the feel of the game.
I prefer the 2D games, but I expect the quality to be pretty high. Hopefully the next TW will be in 2D again.
Or, alternatively, fix the graphical bugs.Originally Posted by Byzantine Prince

Wow, some hot hot response here :)
That happens in any FPS, doesn't it ? Did you ever get the feeling of a Private in a World War based FPS game except for the point of view? I never did. I feel like a robot swinging from left to right. 3D technology has many improvements to overcome and that bug you talk about is not a major problem that destroys the feel of the game.Originally Posted by Byzantine Prince
Actually I love 2D as well. I think the word "3D" killed the basic element of the games : Fun. There are so many super-ultra-high, technological, pixel-vertex shaded with a billion of anisotropic filtered polygons with billion colours and layers of rendered games (my god, so many terminology!) - with NO fun. (e.g. Doom 3)
But 3D really gave some tasty spice to TW feel. I think it should be kept going.
@ bighairyman,
Yeah, scripting idea is good. But ignoring Turkish empire that was a milestone of both the real Mediveal times and the game itself would a huge ignorance, wouldn't it ? ;) CA did not.
I'm trying to help the scripters, that's all :D
Lefteye, I agree with your points on 3d in strategy games- it just doesn't belong. But don't extend it to Doom 3. After all, 3d was origionally invented for FPS games, and I, for one, love it in this setting.
Oh, and for the record, Doom 3 is one of my favorite games of all time, next to Doom 1 and 2. Half-life 2, on the other hand, was abysmal: a hyped-up piece of junk that was nowhere near as involved or as good as the origional.
Finally, I would like to note that I think MTW is fine the way it is now; it would simply not work in 3d.
I mentioned Doom 3 because most of the gaming criticians agreed on that it was a masterpiece of technology - no doubt. But it had a linear progress and the atmosphere seemed too closed and repetitive. Yes, Doom series always pionerred the game industry somehow - this time with its graphic engine but Half Life 2 was expected much more eagerly than any other FPS especially after the arrival of Doom 3.Originally Posted by meatwad
However, Doom 3 can be counted out of this since at least they really contribute to progress of FPS's. But there are so many polygon wastes out there called FPS that arms clipping into shields can not be counted something problemous for a strategy game.
P.S. Half Life deserves for what it gave. They had built a strong scenario and stunning AI for its first release - a FPS syndrome that many others suffer.
