    Default Installation and versions

Ok, first of all hello everyone, this is the first time I post in the forum

I see the EB team is doing a marvelous work, congratulations! Now with my question...it´s about the mod and the different versions of the game in each country. Recently I succesfully installed another mod (RTR), but haven´t been able to play it, most likely due to my 1.2 spanish installation. Looks like the devs of that mod didn´t think about this kind of compabilities; I know another spanish who had exactly the same problem I had: after a succesful install, there were no changes for the mod seemed to be unable to recognize my game .

Since I can´t reinstall the game (darn wizard!) I´ve grown sooo frustrated about this...so please Devs, I ask you to keep this in mind so I can play this awesome mod of yours!!

I used to play RTR with the french version of the game, and I don't know why you wouldn't be able to play it with an spanish version

The localization only happens in text files, no idea what would cause different language versions not to work with the mod. Of course, everything will be in english, until translated by someone...

If I was smart, I would have a witty punchline in this sig that would make everyone ROTFL.

    I'm not smart.

I also play with the spanish RTW version (with 1.2 patch) and I also have the RTR-mod (5.4.1) installed. The mod works well in my computer although there are some funny things. Voices are always in spanish but some of the texts appear translated while some others keep their original spanish version (i.e Blockade..... 10 turnos, etc ). Why don't you delete all folders in "Archivos de Programa"; "Activisión"; "RTW" and reinstall the game? I would also recommend to you to install the english version of the 1.2 patch that you may discharge from the RTR website rather than the version that was sold with the Micromania magazine .

    Ok thanks for replying guys.

The problem is I can´t reinstall the game for the installation wizard is kinda crappy (I tried once and some files were deleted while others not and I couldn´t play nor reinstall it). I´ll try play this mod just as my game is, and if it still doesn´t work ... nice time for new computer and fresh reinstallation!

Maybe it´s not the spanish version at all, but my @&%$$! game or computer (btw, I installed the official 1.2 patch from the RTW site).

Go through your registry, delete anything regarding Rome Total War or Activision (assuming you have no other Activision games). Make sure you back up your registry first.

In fact after I realized the game hadn´t been succesfully uninstalled I deleted the files myself, but the problem somehow persisted . I had to "recover the system" to a date before the RTW installation to install it again, but that´s another story

Again thanks all, anyway I won´t try playing RTR again, I´ll wait for EB instead

Can´t wait to see how Greeks will look like in the mod btw

We have had issues with installing supposedly stand-alone versions over old ones, so I would say no.

Having said that, our releases will include an uninstall utility, so there should be no worries.

I've found that you can do a force install on some games where the computer thinks the game is already installed by opening the CD directory under my computer and searching for an install or setup.exe. At least, that worked for Call of Duty, but I haven't tried it with RTW.
