Does anyone know how date cheat works?
In the campaign map I pressed after I pressed "`" i clicked "date 270 B.C"
But it did not work. In the cheat code it says "date [year]"
Does anyone know how this works...
Thanks

You mean the cheat to change the date , if so I can take a look for a link.
Yeah your right..
Cheat changing the date.
But all the link that I found says "date [year]" But it does not work I dont know why.
P.S. On my first post I meant to say "in the campaign mode when I press "`" to access the console than I typed "date 270 B.C." but it did not work..
Many of the 'cheats' (or console commands as I prefer to call them) can't actually be activated through the RomeShell console. The good news, however, is that they can be activated through a script.
Have a read of this Beginner's Guide to Scripting and follow those steps. There's a link as to how to change the date at the bottom of the first post.
Of course, if you don't want to bother, you can always read the message below:

OK, here's what you need to do. If you want to set a BC date, you need to put a minus before the number, like this "date -1500" which will set the date back to 1500 BC. If you don't put the minus, it will be an AD date.
Getting the cheat to work properly, however, is a toughie. To the best of my knowledge, you may need to get the cheat unlocker patched up on your game, seeing as that patch not only allows unlimited cheating, but opens up new cheat options, too.
If you can't, or don't want to patch up your game, here's another trick to change the date. Go to the desc_strats in your imperial campaign folder (I'm not sure if I spelled the name of the file fight, but it looks like it, anyway) and open it up. In it, there should be a 'start date' part with the date -270 and followed by an 'end date' of 9 or something around that. You can change this number to whatever number you want, and that's the date the game will start and end with.
Trust me, you can go very far behind this way... I started a game in the year 50,000 BC!!
With the console cheat that you're after, the maximum date you can go back is 2000 BC and the maximum forward is 2000 AD.
Good luck!!
Haha. You could replay 1914-1918. With Gaul, Britain and Scythia allied against Germania, Pontus, Dacia and Romans.
I didn't know you could change the date that far forward.
Oh you can... I haven't tried it yet, but I think I'll try starting the game in the year 3000 AD once I get back home from my vacation... which is after tommorrow evening, anyway...
Edit: Oh, and one little thing... during World War 1, the Italians were on the Allied side, at least they were in 1915 and up.

its'not hard. push (~`) type change_date -270 or change_date 270

Exempt it doesn't work.Originally Posted by Emperor Umeu 1
What you really need is to descr_strat.txt from your campaign folder and then at the end of it to add:
Then make new text file called myscript.txt with following lines:Code:script myscript.txt
In this case, it's jump to 220BC year at the begging of the campaign.Code:console_command date -220 end_script
BUG-FIXER, an unofficial patch for both Rome: Total War and its expansion pack
it worked fine for me

It doesn't work.

I'm well aware of that the Italians changed sides in both World Wars. I said play from 1914-1918.Originally Posted by Cheater

No, no, no. You simply write 'date -270' or 'date 270', the command isn't 'change_date' it's simply 'date'.its'not hard. push (~`) type change_date -270 or change_date 270
Another note on cheating. The console cheats are case sensitive, meaning that capitalizing one letter when it should be a small case, or making a small case letter capital, will result in an error. It's pretty picky, but it's just a machine I guess![]()
yeah and when you make one mistake, the cheat doesn't work anymore and you hve to restart (cuz you can use every cheat only one time)

I take it you haven't used the cheat unlocker!!!![]()
