You just copy paste the file to a folder ( for example My Documents\RTW mod files - you have to create one). You rename the files adding the date and finally you create a txt file for the folder location in case you fagot the original files location.

When you make modification that work then make a new copy adding the date without deleting the original, so in that way you keep your versions.
