Not sure where else to ask this, but is there somewhere I can see a list of how many posts gets you which category of avatar?

I saw someone mention it before, but I haven't found it after a quick search.

The list is on the top of the mainpage of the org.There reads Show Avatars.

I have to ask exactly why we can't use custom avatars hosted from our own hosts; it's not like a 3kb 50x50 gif is going to kill anyone's connection.

If every user on this board could be trusted to host an avatar that was suitable and that did not breach the forum rules then I'm sure this would be an option. However, unfortunately as we are regularly reminded, that is not the case.

I personally am grateful for the current idea of the site hosting a custom avatar, it means I won't be left *naked* when my site runs out of bandwidth

If you're referring to the size of the image by that, vBulletin automatically checks the physical size of the image and how many pixels it takes up. But, since you're probably referring to someone posting a picture of a nice pair of breasts, wouldn't that problem also be prevalent in custom signatures?
