    Default Global Domination

    Hi to all,

Yesterday I finished my first RTR Greek campaign. I forced the Dacians to become my protectorate and the winning message pop up, asking me if I want to continue playing. I respond to that with a yes.

Then a strange thing happened. It seems somehow all my enemies – Gaul, Carthegian, Ptomelake, Pontus - turn their diplomatic status to neutral.

Have anyone continue playing for global domination? Is it worth it? Dose the AI change somehow behavior?

maybe these factions were allied to the daciens; you allience with them could cause the change in status?

I never have but i just lack the time and feel that the game gets easier when you have a huge empire

you could do it in RTR, because you can still face the ptolomies , who are strong , and probably teched up quite a bit,
So you can expect some good battles.

50 provinces are to less for me to say that my faction actually dominates the world. But i don`t like the late capaigns. It`s too much work to manage such huge empires and clean the map from rebell armys every turn. Also perhaps you can`t "win" a world domination campaign like in M:TW, with a nice ending. In the only campaign I`ve played so far, all surviving factions are my protectorate and it still doesn`t end.

No, there's no special secret ending message after total domination. If you blitzed early in the campaign it might be worth continuing in order to play some wars against opponents with not totally useless armies but apart from that there really isn't much fun as your economy increases rapidly and allows you to train anything you want. There's of course the problem with squalor that threatens to make you lose cities, but I solved that problem by plaguing my own cities with spies. You should only know what I did to the three Nile provinces! Population down to 6000 or something from originally being 30000... That way I could actually achieve total domination without ever losing a city I had held over 10 turns and without exterminating more than around 5-8 cities in total. Anyway it's boring and not worth it to play from total domination in R:TW.

Never the less i use RTR 5.4.1. On top of that i made some modifications on the version mainly on troop recruitments. For example Greek_Cities and Macedonias can recruit Thracian Mercenaries as long there is the hidden resource thrace. Greek_cities can recruit Macedonian Cavalry as long there is the hidden resource macedon and every greek function can recruit cretian archers only in Crete.

after consideration of your replies i decided to give it a try, meaning that i will continue playing until i get bored.

I was in a full IC with July in VH/VH setting...so when I got Rome, I thought I could go for the rest..now I got ride of all of them but Scipion and Eghytian...yes it is true that at this point, I have enough income to train and build as I want..but still there is some fun beating all the others factions, while keep your settlements right.

I don't understand your post....I guess you don't mind that you can't play when you get into Rome and getting 50 provinces.

I think he means that one typically loses interest in the campaign once you take Rome.

It is still fun playing against all the other factions...there are some strong factions that you have to beat if you go for global domination...also to keep your provinces with the growing distance from your capital...however now that I had ride off all but Egyt and Scipion, I have enough money to build and train as I need...I hope that in a couple of days, I will be done with Egyt and then with the last faction...maybe you don't get an special trailer / movie but getting the whole map with your colors is like when you get Rome
