The worst one financial iregularities. In my late game before i decided to take them out they would fine me 80,000 denrii if i failed there mision. Go in there and wup there bits. its worth it ! Oh and whne you get there you might want to sack Rome as a bit of revenge...........

well theres a little thing called popular support and i seem to be lacking...otherwise there would be no problem as the senate wouldve been gone about 10 years into the game

i hate the people...and i hate the senators--when i get the support i need, their all dead

It sounds like you are in between the rock and a hard place. There are a few things you are leaving out. What faction are you playing? What turn are you in? From what I have read:

You are playing Julli and somehow ending up deep in German territory. Did you check out the "Alliances Scroll?" The senate may have a policy not to attack the Germans, but you did; so you have conflicting messages from them. If so you must take the city in two turns maximum. Either retreat completely from Germany or take them very quickly.

Tara is in Ireland and is either controlled by Rebels or possibly the Britons. If rebels control Tara, then send a small fleet of ships with a small invasion force. If Briton controls Tara this is a problem. If you are not enemies with them, are you ready for a far off conflict that will require a large amount of resources for a small gain? This is the same with the German territories. These far away provinces will require a massive amount of troops and money to conquer, but will take a long time to reimburse you for the trouble. Ignore these far off provinces and focus on the more lucrative Mediterranean provinces.

If you are playing Julli, the Senate normally will send you against the Gauls and to help out the other roman factions when they are having trouble. I do not understand how you went so far north, without many victories behind you. This is the key to the "people," the more you conquer, the more love you will receive from the people - and the ire of the Senate. Regardless, sack Rome, exterminate, and occupy. Retrain your troops in Rome and then finish off the rest of Italy and Sicily. Then go east to Greece and Asia Minor. This will give you loads of cash for the battles you will be in.

If you do not have a navy, start building one. You need to capture Rhodes as quickly as possible. Why? The "wonder" in Rhodes will increase your sea trade in all your provinces. $$$

I liked the idea of the senate but never found it to work well.

Yep, I am playing Julii and it is around 207-208 BC--so far i have taken all of gaul, then i wiped spain out when they had the audacity to besiege narbo martius. During the iberian war, the britons were looking at me wrong so i wiped them out as well and astonishingly they did not control ireland but they did have 3-4 provinces in germania so i went after them...tara is not a problem; rebels hold it and i just added it to this thread because i said i had 5 missions in case anyone was wondering what the 5th one was...

however the tricky thing is germania--i gave them $60,000 for Vicus Marcomannii, Vicus Gothi, and Bodesholm--next turn all three were in civil revolts so thats when the senate tasked me to take them; the problem was that when they revolted, they went back to german hands and not rebel hands--6 months after they tasked me to re-take those settlements, brutii declared an alliance with germania and now im bound to it

anyone know how to push my support with the people up about 10 shields in 2 turns and start a civil war??

You have just entered, The senators on crack zone. [dramatic music]dum dum dum[/dramatic music] Happens everyonce in a while. One Brutii campagin the senate kept telling me to take Rhodes, 4 turns after I already conquered it. So I was in a loop of the senate cancelling the mission one turn then giving it to me the next turn, ad infintium.
If you havin' skyrim problems I feel bad for you son.. I dodged 99 arrows but my knee took one.

Send an assassin after the Senate leader, when he most likely fails and is discovered the Senate will outlaw you and then you can cross as many Rubicons as you like.

I bribed Rome once , while the main army of the Senate was out of the city , I laughed a lot when they asked me to give their city back.

The senate is weird at times. Julii. Early in the game the senate ALLIED with the macedonians I had to park an army in Sparta just to wait to take out corinth(Macedonian controlled) and move into the Greek cities. NExt they allied with the ENglish, Pontics, Arenmia, Spain, Gaul, Germany, etc. Freaking holy cow they basically allied with everyone which basically meant I was limited to my conquests. Luckily though some factions broke off but the Senate is still allied with tons of other factions while I axed the rest.

One time I attacked Germany to make the senate happy, took out a city, then moved in to attack the captial, then the senate sent me a message to get my butt out of there because they recently allied with the Germanys Then next turn they broke it off. To make things even more annoying the Brutii and Gauls kept making an alliance, then going to war, then alliance, etc. By toutatis these romans are crazy!
