well lets see. London is the biggest and was used as a port for a long time (less now, the containers are too damn big -;) )

Bristol, well I don't really know much about Brisstol, It is possible

Leeds, it is part a highly industrialised area, same for Birmingham. I would lean towards Birmingham

Glasgow, well it's just a slum

    I say Birmingham

I know it isn't but I voted London as it does seem quite grimy. I haven't been to the others in a good few months/years so I can't give a qualified judgemnt, I live in London

London is by far, maybe not per sqare mile, but total pollution it is London.

These figures are always innacurate because of the air pollution testing sites used. Manchester's are on the top of a tall building in a pedestrian precinct whereas Exeter's are on the roadside at a busy junction. Suprise suprise - Exeter's air pollution stats are worse than Manchester's.

Taken from the June 2005 Which mag, the figures are concentration of particles in the air. The World Health Organization thinks particles pose the biggest health threat of all air pollutants

By 2010, the government wants the levels to be a max of 18 in Scotland, 23 in London and 20 in the rest of the country
