I actually think a lot of modern youth violence is caused by Generation X and the Baby Boomers (the lot of which are our Parents) and some may be one. But the Baby Boomers were essentially the first generation in history to be more concerned about themselves and their careers/Personal Goals than raising a family or teaching their kids right from wrong, it was just a lot more easy to send us to a daycare or Pre-School while they got on with their own lives. Eventually when we're old enough, they just give us a key to the home, and tell us they'll be home after work. This has distanced us from them in a lot of aspects, sure some parents need to pay the bills, or want something extra... but at the expense of neglecting your own children, I think is absurd. So many within my Generation (Y) and The Next Generation (O) are a lot more close to the children than Generation X. This doesn't mean everyone in our generation has been neglected, I mean I was a latchkey kid, and I have still good morals...I think the rest has to do with the society in which the kids were raised, a good lot of the happy-slappers come from destitute families, and on the other spectrum a lot of them come from wealthy families that have taught them through neglect that it is socially acceptable to do that. And the Middle-Income Families are generally caught in the middle.
