"Unspecified Error" problem

Just built my new computer yesterday. Installed RTW, applied the 1.2 patch. Attempted to run the game and received the following (paraphrased) error -- it appears right after the initial "splash screen" is displayed:

"Rome: Total War has encountered an unspecified error. Exiting."

Or something to that effect. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? It's very possible I don't have the correct mobo or vid-card drivers (which I'll explore further when I leave work).

System specs:

AMD Athlon 64 3000+
K8N Neo2 Platinum mobo
PNY GeForce 6800GT

Try to re download the patch Prehaps that would help.

Also you may wish to ask in the apothecary As that is the tech part of this forum
