    Default Problems with M:TW Display

Hey all, wondering if you can help me on this one:

Whenever I enter quick battle and the battlefield appears; everything is covered in white, meaning it has no colour and all the troops on the field have absolutely no texture and cannot be distinguished from one another. They all just look like solid green blocks. I tried fooling around with the resolution to no avail. I am starting to beleive that it is a graphics card issue, since I have no purchased any new graphics card, using only what came with the system which I bought in 2002. But even then I am starting to doubt it is a graphics card issue because as I understand it, the computer which I bought came out AFTER the game was developed and released, leading me to beleive that my computer should have the necessary minimum requirements to play the game. I have just updated my drivers from compaq, and restarted the game but still didn't solve anything. Please help!

    Here are my CPU Specs:

OS: Micro$haft XP home edition (5.1 Build 2600)
    Compaq Presario 4410ca
    Intel(R) Celeron CPU 1300MHz
    126 MB RAM
Pagefile: 162 MB Used, 144 MB Avail.
    DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
    Intel 82815 Graphics Controller

Shogun Total War worked perfectly fine, and have been playing it for some time. I probably don't meet the minimum specs required to play M:TW, that can be my only conclusion drawn, but I thought I might ask anyway in case there is a patch or something out there that I am missing.

    Hi Jason.

Are you sure you downloaded the latest drivers for your graphics? Seems that intel are aware of the issues caused by your card with MTW.

    See here. http://support.intel.com/support/gra.../CS-004003.htm

In Intels game compatibility list it gets the green light too, so im pretty sure you might not have the right drivers. Try d/l the drivers again from the link above.

Here is a txt document showing you how to manual install as well.

    ftp://aiedownload.intel.com/df-suppo...adme_2k_xp.txt

    Hope this helps. Good luck!

Thanks alot DW! I guess I didn't know how to properly update the drivers. Instead I went to compaq to update and thought all was good. I didn't know before that you had to go to the actual INTEL site to update them. Makes sense now! (lol)

I have a few other problems but don't know if you can help me:

Sometimes when I enter Quickbattle, an error screen pops up and says that Hard-sprites Can't Load, and it crashes. I have not yet encountered this problem in full campaign mode yet, but it is a problem none-the-less that I think I should get squared away.

Although updating my driver properly got rid of the gray and white stuff that was the most serious of my problems, I have a problem with the textures of the units on the field now. They look like blobs of colour, although at least they can be marginally identified. What I am trying to say is that the character textures are very crappy, and can be compared to that of characters from consoles like atari and the old nintendo!

I will fool around with the resolution of the desktop and the game itself for a bit and see if anything changes, but if it doesn't work I was wondering if you can help. Even Shogun: Total War's character textures were good, and you can actually make out what kind of weapon they are using and what suit of armour or suit they are wearing, where as in M: TW I cannot.

Like I said, drivers are now fully updated. If you know any fix to this problem I will be very greatful. If not, I guess it doesn't really matter, I am just lucky enough to have had someone who was able to point out my stupidity in my original post
