    Default Unit card editing

OK, I've made it possible for Carthage and the Seleucids to build ballistas and for Carthage to recruit archers, but I've a horrible feeling that was the easy part. The unit cards are showing up as peasants - how do I change these to the correct image? I've already unzipped my .pak files, if that helps.

The easiest way is to copy the unit card, let's say of ballistas, from Data\ui\units\romans_julii folder into the corresponding folders for carthage and seleucid. Be careful if you named those ballistas different from the original ones. In that case you must also rename the cards.
The same for the info cards from Data\ui\unit_info\romans_julii.

    I hope this helps.

Nope, that didn't work. I knew I'd screw this up!

Basically what Monkwarrior said. The unit cards must be correspond to whatever the unit's dictionary name is. If for example you were to add Seleucids to the ownership for the Greek ballista, then the new unit card would still have the same name as the Greek one, and you just stick it in the Seleucid directory. Remember to create a UI\units\factiontitle and a UI\unit_info\factionatitle directory as I don't think the game has one as standard, as the unpack tool merely makes a \pack directory which the game otherwise ignores.

Btw, I thought you used my Carthy archer mod? If the files were unzipped into the right directories, that unit should work anyway.

I couldn't unpack the files properly - had to do everything manually. I'll give it another try tomorrow. All these _ and / are making my head spin!

OK, this is where I display my monumental ignorance of all things computer-based - is a directory the same as a folder? If so, which files do I move, and do I have to delete anything? I've just got things working, and I don't want to wreck it all by getting overambitious. It probably seems straightforward to many of you, but I'm a complete newbie to modding. Actually, I've only had my computer for a few months, and RTW is the only game I own!

Great! I'm off to Greece for my hols tomorrow, but I'll have a try at editing when I get home. Thank you.
