Post "If I could Cha-ea-ange the world"

If you get that title then you're much too old.

Anyway. I have been looking through the threads and I keep coming across people talking about, the "Limitations" and "Hard coded" aspects of the game. So here is a little thread asking all the EB team, if those limitations were not there (None at all) and you could do anything to Rme: total war.

    What would it be?

Hmm... Is that from Chicago by Stephen Stills?

Well, I'm 17, so I would be hypothetically to young as well.

It's not THAT old song, for God's sake. I think it's younger that "Tears in Heaven". Althought I suppose there are a couple other songs about changing the world, it's a common topic.

Maybe so but think about it. If we can get enough good ideas, we can send the list to CA and say "Oi gives more freedom It works for half life 2."

Since I don't mod but preview and play historian for the Parthians, I'd love to have a fully accurate East, as well as realistic cities.

    Ah, I love that song.
It's hard to keep on topic that is so vague. Obviously, EB would look completely different if we had no limits and more modding help from CA. First thing we'd do is, I believe, get more factions in game, and much more units. 500 slots is just not enough :)

but then. by the Time EB is ready It will be 2011...of course you want it to be accurate. but you have to draw a line somewhere in order to deliver a finished project..and for me, at this moment,500 units is already phenomanal...

More model space would even better than more units.

Without question, the ability to have 1:1 troop representations of actual units, i.e 5000 man legions (and several of them).

    At the moment, we have:
    Small (x1, max 60)
    Huge (x4, max 240)

    I want:

Ultrahuge (x20, max 1200) and I could do everything I needed to do to get realistic unit numbers.

This should be a very minor coding problem, although I accept that some peoples computers are going to struggle with the numbers, even using the LOD features in the 3D engine.

What I'd reallly like is an end to the red border around the map, and for armies to start further away. The routers would be a problem because it would take ages to reach the edge of the map, so I propose that when an entire army runs away and that victory message pops up the battle automatically ends, just like in medieval.

If you combined that with bigger unit sizes it would be incredible

I really don't think pc's can handle realistic unit sizes, cause when I make a custom battle and I try to put in as many units as possible it says I exeeded my recommended unit limit or something. If I just ignore it and start the battle everything is uberchoppy, even when I look away from everything. But it would be cool if it would work

Nah, the unit size limit is one of the last on my list of desirability. It's all symbolic anyway, and my PC can't handle anything beyond Large anyway. It's just a game, you know... I remember strategy games were the best when you just moved squares around a hexagonal map.

The best would be unlimited factions. I'd love to have every tribe represented in the East, with Scythians, all of the Sarmatian tribes with their own faction, and unlimited model space.

I myself would love to see more factions. The map could be be expanded to include the most western part of north africa. (Its not a huge piece of detail but come on. That and I feel that the number of territories could be expanded to increase the tactical thinking.

    Smarter AI
and i mean smarter. I went up against an egyptian opponent with basic pontian troops once. The egyptian force had Macedonian and Greek mercenaries (RTR) and I still beat them because it didnt react to my men hammering the troops next to them. (Had the same problem in vanilla.)

And the buildings hsouldnt require a certain population level. I am so sick of waiting for a town to grow to the neccesary size to build a barracks so i can train something that has metal weapons and morale that doesnt break just because the enemy trumps in thier general direction. If anyone knows how we can send all this to CA. Maybe they'll release a patch. (Not bl==dy likely)

    They don't. It's not hardcoded.
