Well I was trying out a city state type campaign with the Greek's, so I kept Sparta, but then one city far in the East near Jerlusuam (spelling?) I captured, & teched up, keeping a standing garrison in the city (which is horribly needed with all those Egypitains running around), and kept a standing army to march & fight with in a Fort that I have on Seleucid territory, which we are both allies, have trade agreements, & military rights on each others land.
The other standing army is in a Fort just a few miles to the North West of Sparta, aside of the Garrison in the city there which is needed becaue if its attacked, I must be able to defend it since its one of the three cities that I have.
Ask why three cities? Well I decided to ship a army of Spartans & capture Rome, still waiting for the A.I. Roman factions to ship over there to battle it out, I can see them in route on the map hehehe, cant wait for that action.
But how does this pertain to unit restrictions? Well, since I'm only running three cities now, I produce the best units that I can get my hands on to keep this Empire alive!
Trust me, in the East, I dont get what is going on with those Egypitans.
I built up a nicely tech'ed army over there, & marched it against the Egyptians when they were seiging a Seleucid city, giving my allies aid you know.
Well we fought, but all of my highly teched Armoured Hoplies ran away after 10 seconds of battle, got ran down, & massacred!![]()
So, after repeated things of this, even with Armoured Hoplites teched with three bronze chevrons of experience, I went into the game files & increased their mental discipline... no effect, so I did it again.. past what the Spartans come stock with! No effect!!!![]()
Is this a bug or somthing? Fighting Egyptians makes your men scared beyond reason or somthing? They fought the Romans so simply, but in the East on Egypitan turff, its like they see an Egyptian, and they with their 18 mental & 3 bronze chevrons run away like a scared rabbit.. when they should be able to kick the Egyptians ass!
