I was getting massacred until I figured out that Hastati are not set at 'fire at will' and have to be told manually to do that. For some reason that makes an enormous difference. Previously I would lose outnumbering the other side 2:1, and now I'm beating the computer 1:3. Perhaps the pilum is overpowered?
