CTD w/ GeForce 6 series?

I never thought it'd come to this but it has...I'm not sure where to post this. Thank you in advance for moving this to its correct spot. Anyway, I've returned to MTW VI and was very excited however, my enjoyment was cut short by a number of CTDs.

I played this game almost constantly about a year ago and not once did I have a CTD. I come back (same install version) and I've had four in the past hour. The one thing that has changed on my computer is that I have a Geforce 6800 card (latest drivers). Is there any known issues w/ this card? I have a pentium IV processor (2 Ghz) w/ oodles of RAM (okay, just 1 GB), plenty of power and a decent size hard drive (80 GB). What gives?

gosh I ought to write up a document and use it to cut and paste this response *grin*

There is a KNOWN conflict between DIRECTX v9 (or whatever the latest version is - I think it is 9xx) and the latest NVIDIA drivers.

MANY of us have been successful in rolling back to an earlier version of the Nvidia drivers (one that does not conflict with DirectX)

It would be well worth it for you to check out this possible fix.

Also, search the apothocary - there are numerous threads there about Nvidia and this issue (as well as other graphics issues that might apply to your situation if the driver rollback does not rectify the problem)
