    Default Central European Monarchy

    Black-Yellow Alliance

    Koruna Ceska

There are some new small Parties growing which want to rise a Monarchy in central Europe und the re-installed Habsburg Dynasty.

The Key issues are beeing based on the Intellectual Ideals of Otto von Habsburg and the devoted request of a parilamentaric Monarchy.

They want to create a Federation of Austria, Hungary, Czechia, Slowakia, Slovenia and Croatia as a Memberstate of European Union and with the Kaiser as Head of State.

The Question is not how realistic their chances are, I would generally ask how you would stand as a Neigbor to such a State.

Austria would never align itself with those other countries.

I would applaud it if it did happen though - i would think standardization of many elements of government would help their economy and standard of living.

Yeah it would be great if those fat royals come back to power, and bring those countries backward at least 80 years. That's a great idea!

Seriously though, they have no chance in hell of ever suceeding in those aims. What's the point of theorizing, the people of those coutries would never accept. They worked too hadr to get rid of them in the first place.

Sounds funny, but I prefer Otto von Bismarck.

It sounds like excellent fun. Central European monarchies have such a romantic air to them....

...but only if they don't sell out like the British monarchy, Dutch monarchy etc. I want pomp, ceremony and ruthless politics.

There are times I wish they’d just ban everything- baccy and beer, burgers and bangers, and all the rest- once and for all. Instead, they creep forward one apparently tiny step at a time. It’s like being executed with a bacon slicer.

That's because Otto von Habsburg is not officially member of such a party. He is a Member of the CSU-Party and former Head of the Pan-European Movement.

I guess this makes them think he would have been able to bring Austria-Hungary to internal functionality as would be Emperor.

Could they be worse than the nincompoops that have gotten elected?

The hapsburgs are about as popular as plague rats in that area. Most people would only support it if they were very near the top.

Onwards the monarchist revolution! I'll give them my full support. They might be quite popular in Austria, as they're always going on about the "Kaiserlich und Königlich Zeite". They must be one of the most old-fashioned countries in Europe. The Hapsburgs were thought to be a "lazy autocracy". A compromise could be that in stead of having the President, who is head of State and has no power, he is replaced with the Kaiser and with weekly military parades along the Ring in Vienna.

Yes, let the Hapsburgs come to power once again, and take the Austro-Hungarian throne... I would get worried that they try to invade the United Kingdom, however...

Here, here, King Henry! Let the monarchists run rampant, and bring down the indefatiguable plague of republicanism...

The Austrians weren't strong militarily even at the best of times, so I doubt they would be able to invade Britain

That is a mostly wrong Viewpoint. They where very strong and battled victorious against the Invading Ottomans, with Italian and german Douchies. However they were mostly fierce Diplomaths, which made Metternich defeat Napoleon.

    They should not be underestimated!

Of Course, they could not have invaded Britain because of a very weak Navy.

If it hadn't had been for the Poles under Jan Sobieski at the siege of Vienna in 1688, who knows what may have happened. The true strength of the Hapsburgs was their ability to make advantageous marriages. As for the Italians, well the least said about their army the better...
