There hasn't been a Hall of fame this year, but if I remember correctly, there is a period of nominations for the awards, and then there is a vote that all members of the .org can participate in.

LordHugh is correct about the HoF award. As for the others, they were awarded in a couple of different ways. Ones like the Edit and Map(?) were awarded by the staff based on the contributions of individuals in those categories. The Screenshot award was part of a screenshot competition organized by patron Alrowan. Several catagories were created and any patron could submit his/her screenshots to the appropriate categories. All patrons were then invited to vote for their favourites in each category. The winners in each category received the Screenshot badge. (BTW, go back to page 6, January 2004, and you'll find the voting threads and most of the screenshots are still there)

As you can see, there is no set formula for these badges/awards.

Serious awards. I would also like an award for best old school style poster (back in the old days before MTW)... with the rose coloured glasses it would be someone who is polite, helpful, informative and fun.

I think it is like Senior Membership. Great contributions to the .org will provide you with an award. That's why you'll see that most people with an award are senior member too, or moderator.

We have had plenty of "more fun" awards in the HoF... Somebody Else, for instance, got into the 2003 Hall of Fame for having the most original/fun nickname.

On a more important note, I would really like to see a HoF again this year. :]

Do you have a best sig award? Sounds like an interesting one, but there may be too many contenders...

I really like the sound of this HoF awards, hopefully it will happen.

We should definitely have another hall of fame, it was a good way to recognise those in the community who put in a lot of input and time.

As to my avatar, this is what you get when you tell Soly to use his imagination and surprise you!
GARCIN: I "dreamt," you say. It was no dream. When I chose the hardest path, I made my choice deliberately. A man is what he wills himself to be.
INEZ: Prove it. Prove it was no dream. It's what one does, and nothing else, that shows the stuff one's made of.
GARCIN: I died too soon. I wasn't allowed time to - to do my deeds.
INEZ: One always dies too soon - or too late. And yet one's whole life is complete at that moment, with a line drawn neatly under it, ready for the summing up. You are - your life, and nothing else.

the plan is to wait for BI to be released,
then when I have seen the colour scheme i will make a HoF badge for 2004/2005

we have done combined years HoF before and there was quite a bit of turmoil around the time when we would have normally held HoF last year,
with a number of key staff resigning due to real life commitments,
my good self changing jobs, moving house, and my other half getting ready to have our first child - i almost had to leave because of everything going on but "she who must be obeyed" would have none of that

the "H" is from the Rome Font, but all squished and reuced like it is, well yes, i suppose it does pay homage to another organisation that is big on History
