Like some dude above me said, Glads are very good when attacking walls. Well, except for the Velite Glads They are just useful for their spears.
the only time i use gladiators is in mass. if i don't have any urbans but 4 cities with colleseums then i built 4 gladiators. and in battle i mass them all in a solid block and charge them twards the most steadfast enemies, the tear threw um really well.

I have ever bothered using glads in the game, i prefer my legions. I have only used them in custom battles where they are a decent flanking force.

If i ever played as brutii i would used velite though, i just can't deal with chariots and they might be the answer i was looking for
I build a gladiator unit in big cities just because they were there historically. They can defend the city and put down rebels. I seldom campaign with them but they do add color.

Gladiator's also seem to be great cushions to ranged attacks. Their high armor and 2 hp make them rather good at survival, and all archers seem to target them. Not to mention their huge moral always seems to keep them in the battle.
that seems like a waste of good gladiators to me![]()
