Default War of the Worlds: opinions

Just seen it, very entertaining, the effects and tension are top-notche with desperation and madness potrayed well in it. It ends a bit abruptly for me but the film is well worth seeing none the less.

    I'd give it about 8/10

    Anyone else seen it?

How suitable is it for kids? The Daily Mail said the violence was so bad that taking your kid there would be child abuse, but the US newspaper reviews I've read on the net don't mention the violence as a problem. My son is a mature and robust nine years old, watched Jurassic Park when he was two (don't ask!) and can handle most things. I trust Spielberg to present violence in a "responsible" way but I'd be interested in what people who've seen the film think.

The Violence isn't too bad, a few bits which could be seen as a bit disturbing for children.

For me the only scene which scared me a little is when Cruise and his kids a dragged out a car by a mob who a are desperate to get out of a backwater town. Mob madness scares me man.

I really don't think it would scare a child to be honest but I been watching sick and violent films since i was a nipper so don't take my word for it!

It was a good movie - 8/10 is pretty accurate. If youve seen the first one, dont expect any surprises. And no, it wasnt violent.

It was awful. See the original if you want to see a good movie.

Someone said that the movie started out good but later became like 'AI'. I wonder what that means. I didn't watch the movie.

AI was an over sentimental, boring sci fi movie, which may be what that person means, though I'm probably incorrect.

    Yeah AI was very sentimental.

I hope to see this movie tomorrow

The movie was good, but it kind-of has a pointless plot...

Its an alright film. Pretty decent action sequences, not too many special effects. However:

    It felt far too short.

    It stunk of Independace Day.

If I had a daughter like Tom Cruise's in the film, I think I'd have pushed her into the the sights of one of the tripods. She is infuriating and was more like a robot (albiet a very screechy, irritating one) than a child.

The (family story) ending made me want to wretch. So all-American.

    Bravery is to be terrified as hell;
But to hold the line anyway.
