Default A little off topic but describe yourself

The reason I ask is that a lot of people including myself spend a lot of time reading and testing what others write here and I was wondering what kind of people belong to this forum. Don't write too much

I live in Salem, Oregon (USA) I am 25 yrs old and currently engaged to a great blasian woman. I work in a frozen produce factory and I like it better there than the previous office I worked at. No customers.

I personally rate my MTW skill as above average campaign mode (I never really lost a game, although I have seen better battlefield commanders.) but my true love is FPS.

Work, Girlfriend, Responsibilities, Reality, Kids, and MTW - all things in life make life worth living.

    Edit October 17th, 2007
Work-Still hate it but I appreciate having it more now.
Girlfriend - ? - looks like I am helping Nga now. Miss sex though.
Responsibilities, Too many bills to too little money
    Reality - (Censored)
Kids - My son is improving a little bit each day, still far behind but I may have more kids in the future.
MTW - Kingdoms installed but...Urggg, too soon.
    ----------------
Conclusion, Life is worth Living now.

Well, I live in Budapest, Hungary (Europe for those who need it ) I work for an internet company, so office job, too. Play bass and only play pure TBS strategy games: mtw being the notable exception. I am 29 and not gonna get married soon.

I guess I am a good player strategy wise, but an average on battlefield with notable strenghts using horse archers. Not too good online, though.

36 years old, Teacher of History by occupation. Just started playing the game 2 or 3 months ago and it is the only game I play on a regular basis. Pretty decent commander but still trying to get the hang of using Horse Archers en masse. Have played most of the major factions, always play the Glorious Achievement game. Enjoy the economics and politics aspect of the game too. Single, read a lot in spare time, mainly history and military history. Been reading a lot lately about Ancient Egypt, wouldn't a real time strategy game based on New Kingdom Egypt be interesting? I would love to play the Hittites!

29/male. I live in Sydney, Australia, and I work for the government as a Business Analyst. About to get engaged to a lovely woman.

I've only been playing MTW for a month. My strategic game is tight, except for grooming generals, which I often completely overlook. My battlefield skills are pretty ordinary. I have difficulty manipulating units on the field properly whilst using the camera keys, and things tend to descend into chaos. The pause button is my best friend. I get better results than autocalc though...

Well a little about me. As you can tell from my location I live in Western Canada. I'm 18 and a college student and I am planning on becoming a geomatics engineer. I like bands like Nine Inch Nails and The Killers. I am really into films as well, in fact more then any other subject right now. My faves are Dr.Strangelove, Pulp Fiction, Seven, and off course Fight Club. Yeah I'm a big David Fincher fan.

I don't get a long with people very well as my warn level advocates, but I still like it here for the rest of the people I enjoy having conversations with. Although my posting will gradually decrease in frequency when school starts.

I love to play MTW still even though I have RTW(which get's old quickly). Once I get BI though I'm gonna start playing some multiplayer so loooook out for me, I am not bad.

I'm 52 years old, happily married for 13 years and have 2 fantastic children - 7 and 1. I live on the Isle of Wight in the UK - the home of Jimi Hendrix's last gig and I was there- and I work for the Council in Economic Development. My love of MTW, which I have only been playing since Christmas, stems from my wargaming days. Back in the times when I wasn't married and I had loads of spare time and cash, I was a serious historical figure wargamer. That stoped about 15 years ago, but computer games have taken over - basically they don't need all that preparation, you game straight away. I have enjoyed age of empires for a long time, as well as others such as Sid Meyers Gettysburg. But MTW is the tops - great strategy and battlefield stuff as well. The icing on the cake is this forum - everytime I have a problem, I just post on here and get loads of good advice. I reguarly look at the guides as well. I can see me playing this for quite some time.

I'm mid 40's and being playing wargames for 30 years. I also have an interest in performance cars. (see www.clubvr4.com for details on my car) . I played chess for a long time thinking it is the most pure wargame. However, I liked the variety of wargames, and have played WWII and Modern in models (1/72 and 1/300 scale) and played RTS for the last 10. Most importantly I am married / in love with my High School Sweetheart.

At the mo I am playing SimCity4. Getting bored. Will be back on to MTW soon, the best game by far.

I'm 42, male - live in Middle England of Scots/Irish background.
I have been playing for about 6 months but I don't think my lifestyle allows me to play as much as some of you younger folk! (I have three kids also!)

I have EVENTUALLY beaten all the Historical Battles and Campaigns and my best achievement in proper campaigns was probably total domination as The Danes on Hard. I have won on Expert as The Byzantines, but consider this a lesser achievement
I will probably get laughed off the forum, but one of the best things I enjoy is "Quick Battle"!!
You never know what you are going to get and I had great fun defeating a combined force of Vikings (in a castle) and Mercians (attacking from two other sides) as the Irish with a lot of catapults, ballistas and Kerns and a few mounted troops. I'm sure I had a lot less troops and abandoned it first time when it was clear I was going to lose. When I chose to "Refight" I grouped all the siege engines and concentrated on their defensive Mangonel which perished after a single salvo! I did the same to some of the mounted force inside and killed the General, then the stockade gates and then Arrow towers etc of the main castle. Also I was by now ready for the attack from the rear of the Mercians who I hadn't noticed first time round!!!
I tried to recreate it with Custom Battle, but it wasn't the same

One of the best pieces of advice I would give to a TOTAL newbie would be to follow frogbeastegg's beginners guide and ensure you put a leader of at LEAST 3 Acumen in each Stronghold of your provinces and watch out for Loyalty of Generals and hit "Shift" EVERY turn to check if Provinces are about to rebel.

heh heh - glad to see there are other "old farts" around here too...

46 yo divorced father of two - been playing all kinds of games for over 30 years - way back to original D&D to AoE and other strat games etc.

I live in Northern California - north of San Fransico - I do Technical Consulting and technical writing.

I'm very impressed with the re-playability of this game. I've only been actively playing for a few months - but having great fun

This forum is one of the VERY BEST game forums I have ever seen - due in large part to the wonderful VOLUNTEER moderators and the self-policing and excellent behavior exhibited by the participants - my hat is off to all of you

Thank you for allowing me to participate in a wonderful on-line community (one of these days very soon I am going to start trying to play MP - I have had a very generous offer, from one of the regular members here, to help me learn the basics - again GREAT people here).

Always willing to help out if I can (although there are so many great people here with more knowledge and experience than I - *grin*)

25/m/Innsbruck, Austria. Student of German Philologie. Sculptor by occupation (curently helping to restore the cockpit of a JU-52, which crashed into the alps during WW2, for a museum). Have maintained successfully a long term relationship with meine Frau, though I am not engaged nor married, who is French.

Have been a bit buisy lately, and had to do some film editing, so I had to remove MTW temporarilly from my comp. Though, it is definately one of my favourite strategie games. I've played it off and on for a couple of years, and consider myself pretty alright at it. While all the games are off my comp, I've been playing a bit of Risiko (or Risk).

let's see 31. married with 2 spawnlings. NY-USA. I work in the transportation industry, but I am not a trucker/driver. War strategy, builder conquerer games rank as my favs. MTW rocks, completely off the hook. I am a great stategist but do not always impletement those strategies well. I typically jump a little to soon. Oh well I do very well on the building stuff and makin moolah.

When I am not kickin pixelated but I am training (martial arts), am sort of a movie buff (LOTR ROCKS), and .... well thats about it. What can I say I'm boring.

33, male, ethnic mutt (Pennsylania Dutch+ Sicilian/Calabrian on one side, Scot-Irish on the other).

I have a cushy office job which supports my various other stuff, which is traditional western martial arts (archery, Hungarian heavy sabre and fokos fencing, and traditional, non-sporting savate with traditional weapons). I hold dual m.a.'s in history and medieval studies, and am a regular researcher and presenter for De Re Militari, which is an organization of professional medieval military historians. My wife is a medieval archaeologist I picked up in Budapest and conned into washing my socks. My primary specialty is experimental archaeology, and I'm currently working on a revisionist theory regarding the role of the Genoese at the battle of Crecy. When that's done I hope to translate Matteo Villani, and to write a history of the Neopolitan Succession Wars.

If any of that blather sounds interesting, I keep a blog at http://www.boxingalcibiades.blogspot.com, which is primarily about international politics and the like.

I m a lawyer and I bombardise enemy flanks with siege machines, even if it pays little (exept from once that I killed the enemy general during a siege after one shot or two, it was 1 shot in a million ). After ammunition is out, or if the enemy comes closer, I send in the arbalesters to wear them down, always aiming at their flanks. Once they try to make a move, I send in my infantry in 3 divisions, left right and center (each one with multiple batallions, according to my army's size). My only concern is not to be outflanked, because if they don't outflank you,you will outflank them.
