    Default purchasing regions from allies

i didn't know if it would work or not, but as the macedonians, i built an empire solely around the Aegean sea. all i had to do was crush the rebels and go to war with the Greek city states. however, due to the sheer power of the Seleucid Empire in this campaign, i didn't want to go to war with them.

i have huge amounts of money, and i'm allied with the seleucids. so i chose to buy the province in the aegean region from the seleucids. i was suprised at how cheaply i got the region. and their forces simply left. this is on medium difficulty.

Bribery was too expensive because i would have had to buy a general and the army and the city. purchasing just the city is far cheaper

I never knew you can do that. I always used bribes... Amazing.

Yesterday I offered my protectorate 35K denarii for Nicomedia. I had no clue they were going to accept and the settlement could easily had revolted because those money were the last that I had

Last night I traded Rome for Paestum and Corfinium with my Roman protectorate. Earlier in the same game I bought Crete, Rhodes and Cyprus from my Ptolemaic allies at a bargain price of some 37.000 d. which surprised me since the Colossus increases seatrade with 40% this province alone should have costs twice the amount.

You should have waited for a Buy 1 Get 1 Free offer before parting with your cash.

I wonder what considerations the AI uses when valuing the worth of a city. Perhaps not enough.

...That explains why Pontus wouldn't give me Tarsus for 20k. High price indeed. I'd rather storm the damned place, saves time, heartache and money. :-/

I have Macedon as a protectorate in my Greek RTR game, since I completely surround them on all sides, except for where they had ports - so they hadn't been in a war for about thirty years, when they stupidly decided to attack me - breaking our alliance - as a counteroffensive against my attack into Thrace. Anyway, I usually build troop training centers in grouped cities of three, but I had never had a chance to do this in the Athens-Sparta-Corinth area of Greece, because of their hold on Corinth (from where I knew that I could get the superior Corinthian hoplites, anyway). So, I offered them a cool 15,000 for the city, and they accepted, and moved their army out. I didn't lose them as a protectorate for bribing them, and I didn't lose any soldiers in a costly war with them (I wouldn't have had enough soldiers in the area to go around, anyway, as they're off fighting Dacia and Egypt simultaneously).

Thumbs up Re: purchasing regions from allies

This Morning I just got myself Cyprus and an Egyptian General for the Very conviniant price of 10,000. I'll say thats a real bargain since I got 2 for the price of 1.

That general must've been 'publicly loyal', or 'apparently loyal'.
