Teamspeak works quite well. Use headphones with the microphone so the others don't hear an echo. One player runs the server and the others run the client. The clients connect using the server's ip address. You can have separate voice chat groups for different teams in the same session.Teamspeak downloads

Yes I have used MSN messenger - which allows you to chat with one person at a time and I've also used Ventrilo - which is a teamspeak program.
Works quite well.
