After yet another succesfull space exploration misson I wondered what the Org felt about Deep Impact and maybe space exploration as a whole.

I'm all for it.

I get giddy when I think about all the calculations to determine trajectories and intercept in space...

I thought Deep Impact was an ok Film. Tea Leoni was good though
space program is a total waste of money. utterly pointless.
better to give that money to the poor instead.

I think space exploration is cool, and to be encouraged. I don't know who it was that said "prosperous societies explore and exploring societies prosper." but it sounds about right to my uneducated ears.

When you compare what is spent on "Space Programs" and what is spent on Military budgets, I believe we should support our exploration. I don't even think it equals 1% of the World Military budgets.

It's exciting, but to be honest it's also a waste of money....
Personally, I think NASA should be militarized AND privatized - what can't be used to subdue other nations should left to corporations to exploit for billions of dollars.
Well, maybe not put that way, but effectively, yes that's what I think.

Great! Soon we can send coca cola into outta space!!!
As to the exploration, yeh, seems all good to me as long as the US keeps paying for it.

And you wonder why an American taxpayer is disgruntled by it all.
Militarize space now! While the Chinese aren't in it.

While space exploration is a noble goal, and is a better use of money than expolsives, bombs, and fancy planes, they money could be used for better purposes. But since it wouldn't be used for it any time soon, I'm not going to have a heart attack or anything...
i´m all for it...
on the other hand i find it kinda funny that after a couple of failed attempts to "land" probes in mars the scientists came up with a new aproach "we´ll just slam into it!"
PanzerJaeger 02:56 07-05-2005
The only space programs I support are Star Wars(or whatever President Bush calls it these days) and the exploration of relatively close planets that we could actually hope to gain anything from.

I think its cool, just one more of many steps until that moment when Humanity leaves this dreadful rock.

first thing that came to my mind, too - "Whoa, they made a sequel to Deep Throat ?!"
i posted about that in the frontroom

I wonder if he sent his logic into space as well.

Comet mission next up is Rosetta in 2014, led by the European Space Agency.
Then that`s not that great anymore when your tax money is being used?
