    Default 1.2, or not 1.2?

I'm still taking heaps of FF among my archers when I have overlapping archer units firing at the same time. Is this supposed to happen in 1.2? I find it quite unlikely that archers can shoot the guy right in front of them when they're firing into the air. Archers firing into enemy formations while my troops are engaging that formation in melee I understand, but when there isn't a melee?

Also, I have the sensation that my bribes are kinda screwed, because it only takes 20k at max to bribe 3 family members and a full Roman army... I thought bribes were supposed to be much more hefty than that.

Any chance I have had a bad install of 1.2? In which case, what way is there to remove it and reinstall it?

AFAIK the FF casualties issue have not been fixed entirely in 1.2 patch. The archers still fire at friendly formations, but losses from FF are now minimized.

I don't know if this is possible to happen, but if you are willing to reinstall the patch, in case you are running Windows xp, you should open the registry and find the key "Version" in the path:
    Code:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War
It should has value "1.2", change it to "1.0" or "1.1".

To access the registry editor, go to Start->Run... and type "regedit"
Warning!!! DO NOT modify your system's registry unless you are familiar with. You may cause serious system instability

Funny, but I found that I had no (noticable) FF with 1.2, which I consider to be worse for gameplay than having the stupid examples of FF (such as shooting into the backs of men in front) at all.

Yes, I've found very little friendly fire with 1.2 - at least with well-defined static lines. Before that, it was a nightmare. Friendly fire is still a problem in 1.2 when you are mobbing the enemy and your missile troops start firing into the scrummage, but that's fair enough I guess.

I don't have an issue with firing into the scrummage, but when they're right next to one another and still hitting one another, I should like to ask why did I spend 2400d to build an archery range if their training is such crap?

Thanks Pyrrhus! I think I'll modify my regedit after I finish my Brutii campaign.

If u dont be alert, a good part of your army can be loss. In a defense bridge, the enemy has killed 5 from me, but my 2 units of archers killed 180 of me too!!

I can only laught about this. The only thing they need do is fire the enemy in the bridge, but they prefer fire in my mans from behind. Well, maybe my mans like to receive a arrow from behind, and the archer like to put the arrow in behind. Well, its a gay parade!! At least, is politically correct.
