Well there ya go. I downloaded a little 16k program off of Morpheus.

It's called "GWBIF" and in quickview it's description is "Groupwise BIF Edit".

But it needs a .dll, shwinb20.dll. So please, anyone, search your computers for this file, and if you find it mail me at gengiskan0@cs.com.

For my part I've scoured the web *overthoroughly* and the only place I found it was either in an upgrade patch for some Novell program (which I didn't have the software to unzip and utilize [it requires that you actually *have* the Novell application]), and a fantastic-looking .dll archive site with all dead links that hasn't been updated for 3 years. It's a fairly rare .dll file, so please if anyone has it, gimme!

But don't get your hopes up that this is the real thing as far as a BIF editor, won't know til we open it.

    Hey Khan7,

I'm in the process of working out RSW's source code and porting it over to c so I can release a version that will allow us to change the image on a pixel by pixel basis. From my understanding, the shogun bif file format is different from a slightly more common and completely different '.bif' file format. I too did a lot of online research and found about 3 editors that claimed they read bif format. Unfortunately, it wasn't our format.

I had originally planned on getting this code produced earlier but real life keeps intruding on any extra time I may otherwise have to program. I suspect I only need a couple of free afternoons(even though I don't know delphi) to do the port to c but it may still be a while until I can free up those afternoons. Considering the additional editing capability we now have with 1.02 I've been more intent on getting it done but I can't give an ETA at this point.

If you'd like, (with RSW's blessing) I can supply the delphi/pascal code I currently have to anyone interested in running with it. I will also gladly make my source available once I get it into c.

incidentally, I looked and I don't have that driver sorry.

    tm,

yes, a couple of us looked at some of these standard bif readers also. 20/20 and i think another one. apparently stw uses a proprietary system for bif's.

who or what is 'RSW' though?

    K.

I started to apologize for being so obscure then I saw your signature...

RSW was the gentleman from thailand who posted the first bif editor here at the org. I haven't seen any posts from him lately but I have spoken to him several times through email. He managed to figure out most of the file format and, if you've used his editor, it appears that the files are rendered properly. The only thing lacking was a good method of modifying the image (what I'm working on now).
