I was just checking put Battle for Middle-earth by EA games and noticed the astonishingly attractive world map that features in the game! Why shouldn't Rome's be this good?

Entirely possible, but CA decided to go to for the cartooney Warcraft style, matter of taste since it is mostly a matter of skinning. And I agree, that map looks much better.
Edit: hey, are you my long lost twin brother?![]()
Im your long lost twin brother that no one would like to know about.
Ja Mata Tosainu Sama.
I like the RTW map as it is. Atleast it runs easily on my comp without my having to worry too much about the graphics quality.

Duke John & kagemusha - I'm the long lost triplet. I can see where the confusion arose! I think it is a little more than the skins... It looks as though the BfME map has much more variable terrain tiles: rivers more fluid in their paths, forests and land forms more definable in terms of shape etc. It's a shame that CA had to make a map so dependant on square tiles.

It's a reunion! Cheers my brothers![]()
I must say that although the battle for middle earth map looks good, I still prefer the rtw map. It looks cool and I like the style it is in.![]()
I haven't seen the BfME map but do take into account that RTW was built for producing new maps relatively easily, while it may not be so easy/flexible in BfME.
maybe those guys should be doing something more useful...
I like the campaign map from RTW.
But I still prefer MTW. It's a much better made campaign map, and the info parchment is more detailed, with all the trade goods, income and terrain details on the parchment.
Ja mata, TosaInu. You will forever be remembered.

Swords Made of Letters - 1938. The war is looming in France - and Alexandre Reythier does not have much time left to protect his country. A novel set before the war.
A Painted Shield of Honour - 1313. Templar Knights in France are in grave danger. Can they be saved?

I once again agree, variety is better.I don't ever want TW to return to the old region maps of Shogun and Medieval. A different battlefield for each map tile is nice. Lots of variety.

Duke John & Kagemusha -!
hoom - Its even more of a shame that they never released the Campaign map editor then isn't it.
edyzmedieval - The regions work differently in BfME (more like M:TW) and I too prefer the Rome way of doing things, but I am talking about the appearance more than the mechanics.

Apart from the mechanics, I prefer RTW. It's really a good looking map but the fact with the already built castle doesn't look good(for me).
