Add the -nm switch to your RTW icon.

Right click on the Rome Total War desktop icon, select properties, and where it says target, add -nm after the .exe bit.

No more in game movies. A bit of a shame if you didn't want all the movies stopped, but that's the way it is.

That`s a bit complicated, and some movies are cool to watch.

Just press escape twice in a rapid order and you will barely notice that the videos were there.

Well I'm pretty sure he knows that pressing escape skips the intro movies. Perhaps like many people, he finds it annoying to have to do it everytime he loads the game. And if you mod the game and need to restart often, it becomes an annoying little chore.

I hate the way games insist of bombarding you with dozens of stupid and crappy intro movies and idents whenever you load up a game, even if you've had it for months, years even. Could you imagine starting up your car in the morning and having a 'Made by Ford' and 'Tires provided by Good-Year', and 'Sold by Barry's Almost New and not at all Dodgy Motors' promotional movies playing over the dashboard display or radio before you can even start the engine? You'd want to smash the radio up. Or run over an old lady or something.

Pretentious. That's what it is. If we want to know who provides the sound system for a game, we'll click on a link of credits when we're utterly bored.

Well you see, most other games only make you watch the intro movies once. Next time you play it doesn't show up but ingame movies are still there. I guess I'll turn off all movies then. I'm in the middle of a campaign right now so there aren't any ingame movies to watch.

Krauser, adding the -nm command line may also reduce the initial loading time for the game. It certainly made the menus much more smooth and fast for me. There are other useful command line options as well. Check them out. You may increase your gaming experience.

Remember to put a space before the -nm

What other commands are there, and where are they listed?

I've done stuff like this before for Diablo II. e.g."-w" makes it windowed mode.
