This could be the loneliest thread ever.
I just bought one of the MegaScenery packages for FS2004. Curious if anyone else had them or was thinking of getting one.

Truly you are the saddest people on the planet.
I would rather watch paint dry than "play" in flight sim game.

No but on the topic of flight sims I am very interested in getting the new Falcon 4.0 game. The first was brilliant but buggy, lets hope this si better.

Hmm, let me respond in a proper and eloquent fashion...
Must go. Back after with flight chat.

I have it , but as good as I was with IL-2 forgotten battles I truly suck at FS2004.
I can't even get a plain in the air without getting of the runway.
And I don't really like the fact that it's so real , I mean it's just not doable to fly from Amsterdam to JFK international - a 6 hour flight.
The taking of is fun ( well not for me ;) ) , the landing part is fun, but the long part in between is just long... to long.
What I do like is that you can actually see ''AI''plains taking of , and landing , that I like.
ANd I like the real weather option ( don't know for sure if is an option or DL ) , where you can actually fly in real time weather.
Meaning that if there is a hurricane in Florida, you just take of Miami International ( or something like that ;) ) and fly in a hurricane ( gale winds, heavy rain etc . )

You could just go an airport see real planes.

I agree with Dutch Guy, I just play it so i can have the fun of taking off and landing a 747 in Ronaldsway, Isle of Man(our airport)
Beirut, did you say you had a scenery package? which one? does it cover britain, if so see if you can see my house, its just off runway 26 of Ronaldsway, about a mile SW

I got the Pacific Northwest scenery from megascenery.com. It was the price of a new game ($60, including tx and P&H), but it really looks terrific. Doesn't hit the FPS hard and is very immersive. It's not photorealistic as some would say, but it offers lots of "Wow!" moments when flying. The daytime scenery is good, the nighttime is very cool, and the winter is excellent. The scenery I bought covers an area of 30,000 square miles (175x175) around Seattle, Washington. The city looks good, though the 3D building still suck mostly, but the hills and valleys and mountains and lakes are great!
Check out the screens here:

There are several scenery options available from this company, but from what I've read, this one is the best bang for the buck. If you buy only one, buy this one.
The downside, aside from the price, is that the scenery looks best at Cessna speeds. If you fly at jet speeds the scenery loading doesn't always catch up with you and the texture resolution drops. But if you're happy to blob about in a prop plane, you'll get some seriously good looking terrain. The standard FS2004 terrain will look terrible in comparison. Oh, and installing the scenery is point & click easy but takes a good 45 minutes. The load times are also a bit slow, but not
that bad.
I'm looking forward to getting the Wings of Power add-on and flying my beloved Lancaster over this excellent terrain. I won't get to blow anything up but the plane and cockpit detail are first rate.
For the naysayers who diss the flight simmers, all I can say is try it before you trash it. There's thousands of hours of fun to be had in sims like IL2, Falcon 4, Lock On and FS2004. If you've got the computer hardware and a good flightstick, you're set up for a hell of a good time.
Besides, it drives my sweetie nuts.
