Then I'll go for Achilles your hero's hero!

why does evrybody forget Charlesmagne. they're talking about Nap. while he never succeeded like Charles.

Who I also greatly admire are those Tibettans who are still fighting for their freedom and all the others who are oppressed (spelling?) by the chinese.

I also admire all volunteers who help people in foreign countrys: leaving their wealth, freinds, family and homes behind and go helping people without earning money or just enough to buy food and stuff.

and ofcourse all other forgotten hero's

    The ordinary American Soldier
Then I'd rather say all soldiers who fight for freedom, justice and their country (except those cowardly terrorists)

Hannibal (not the cannibal), one of the best generals of all time.
you must admit he is quite intellegent and he has a lot of talent in the books but I just wouldn't feel comfortable when I'd be in the same room with him.
I must say the writer did a pretty good job. I'm reading Hannibal at the moment. I've seen the movies now I'm reading the books.

Robert de Hauteville, known as Robert Guiscard. From a poor Norman knightly family, during his lifetime he conquered Naples and Sicily, carving a Norman dominion out of southern Italy. This was the result of countless battles from which Robert emerged undefeated, one fought against the Pope himself and his Lombard allies when they tried to expel the Normans, another fought to protect the same Pope from the Holy Roman Emperor. He also challenged the Byzantine Empire, but nothing much came out of it, a man can only do as much in our limited lifespan.

Another hero of mine is Pompey the Great, a man who too often is, IMO unjustly, put in the shadow of Julius Caesar. Few realise his true greatness.

One of my heroes is Bon Scott, a man who lived the rock 'n' roll lifestyle to the full, but never stopped being the decent, honest, down-to-earth guy he was. A brilliant lyricist and songwriter, he knew what it was like to work for a living (the guy was no boy-wonder coasting to megastardom at 16; he'd worked his arse off for ten or fifteen years playing drums, singing and even roadying for bands to pay his way until he met up with the brothers Young) and knew how Joe Average saw the world because he was just Joe Average done good, and you can tell that from his lyrics.

I'd put him level with Jagger as greatest frontman ever, but he's totally different to Mick. Whereas Mick makes the smallest club feel like a massive stadium with his showmanship, Bon made even the largest of venues feel like an intimate club gig with his brand of croaky, beer-soaked vocals and down-and-dirty lyrical masterpieces.

The man was voted 'Rock Star You'd Most Like to Have a Pint With' a while ago. He was never caught up in drugs ("The guy loved a drink," Angus would later recall, "but never, never saw him inject or snort anything. Bon wasn't like that"), never married a bloody porn star, never did any self-indulgent vocal tricks, and was just generally a great guy.

    To Bon!

Blast... You've trumped me with the hero of the hero's hero.

Did Achillies have a hero, or is he the top of the hero food chain?

    Martin Johnson.

Best example of why was in 2003 England vs New Zealand in Welliongton i think it was, and England were down to 13 men, only 6 in the pack and took a NZ scrum against the head on the England line.

After the game Johnson was asked what he said to his players to make them win that scrum, he said 'what? do you think i had some chuchilian speach? i told them to bend over and push!'

Also when asked what was going through his mind during that scrum he replied 'My spine!'

There are many people in history that I admire, but I can't consider anyone as hero. Nevertheless for the argument here I vote for Spartacus! , the man who who led the great slave uprising in 73 BCE against the Romans!

Alexander Hamilton. Teddy Roosevelt. Mother Theresa. Not necessarily in that order.
