RTR question

I've encountered a couple of problems , and I hope that someone can answer them
first i've installed RTR version 5.2 5.3,.5.4 and the 5.4.1 patch and working with version 1.2

now my problem is that evry time I want to start a campain, after I've chose n faction and ready t o start, the pc goes back to the desktop , now i have followed the advice on your site stating to manually remove the file rmw. ( or something like that)
It still won't start.
and the funny part is , that I've already succesfully started 2 campiagns ( however that was before I installed 5.4.1 )
Although that did not go to well either, almost every battle mid game, the game would just stop , and quit and return to desktop....

well hope someone knows how to stop those prbs. from happening..
any help would be much appreciated.

PS": also when I get to the faction selection screen ( to start a campaign ) it says on the top '' RTR version 5.2
now that can't be right, i'm at version 5.4.1

i have a simular problem, i can play RTR campaiigns but i can't start them, so if someone could be really nice. and send me a started campaign in year 280 of Carthage and Egypt. i would apreciate it. my e-mail is umeu_1@hotmail.com

ps on normal/normal and on huge settings

Well it seems other people have had this problem before , but does anyone know how to fix this, ?

Dutch_guy: Try reinstalling RTR, paying careful attention to the directory you unpack the files into. This shouldn't take long if you've kept the files.

Ok thanks a lot Simetrical, but now I was fighting a battle last day, and well it just crashed to the desktop, it's been doing this lot's of times lately, now why is it crashing, and more important how do I stop this.

i had that too, some units are screwed. atleast at mine

If you reload, does the battle crash at the same point? Is the crash tied to any particular action, such as attacking with a particular unit? If you can consistently repeat the crash, e-mail a save to me (I use Gmail, username Simetrical) and I'll take a look. You did reinstall RTR, right?

Never heard of problems with that before. You could send me a save if it's consistent, and I'll look into it.

they didn't worked on the battlemap. but i deleted them.

If you reload, does the battle crash at the same point? Is the crash tied to any particular action, such as attacking with a particular unit? If you can consistently repeat the crash, send a save to me at ************ and I'll take a look. You did reinstall RTR, right?

yes I did reinstal it, however I then installed the 5.3 patch, after that it worked great, and I haven't seen the game crash any more.

From my experience , all these problems I'm having prior RTR (vanilla time). That is the time I'm using 64 MB display and 256 MB of ram. I believe not enought memory caused the crashed.

Now I upgrade to 128 display and 512 RAM there's no more problem.

Only screen lag during large battles (I mod so that reinforcement always come on time). Might go out and but the latest 256MB video display (sadly my board only support 4X AGP..)
