    Lightbulb Swords and Maps

    Interesting combination.....

My story starts like this: I went to someone(an artist) and while I was walking through her workshop, I noticed a rusty sword but beautifully "sculptured". I pulled it from the "cover", and I was amazed. It was a Toledo sword, with the Spanish Royal Court of Arms on it!!!!! It had the Nihe Sine Deo(something similar, it was quite old, I couldn't see everything) on it, 2 lions and 4 parts of the court of arms, including a head of a bull and a eagle.... I was deeply amazed.....

Moving forward, I went to the Nicolae Iorga Memorial House, who is the greatest historian in Romania's history. He wrote 11359 books!!!!
He knew perfectly 16 languages, a truly amazing man.... As I was visiting the house, I saw 2 old maps, from the 18th century each, in French....

That brings me to the question:

Where can I find ORIGINAL swords and maps, apart from private collections?!

I really want to start collecting, original maps and swords.......

This Romanian historian reminds me of Mehmed II, who spoke 11 languages fluently and a good dozen partially by the time of his first reign.

And I'm inheriting my grandfather's sabre, which he recieved when he went into service. Nothing real special, save that it's one of the last true cavalry sabres made in Europe.

Here are some ancient maps :

I had a lot of documentation about scotish ancient map galleries (but then, you can often only buy copy - far less expensive). Unhappilly, I lost everything a while ago.
You can also visit some ancient book shops, they sometimes happen to have original ancient maps (in France at least).

As for Ancient Swords, I've never find one that was to be sold. Anyway, it would probably cost a load of money.

    Thanks Meneldil.

I can ask my godfather, who is French BTW, and also an archeologist(sp?), and also is interested in old books.... Man, why didn't I think of this before?!
