I worked on a system for all members worldwide to get free drinks. Here it is:
    1. Transfer me the membership fee (1,000€) ,
    2. Take the bill to the bar tender in your local pub
    3. Enjoy your drink

It places it in ambiguity like all other complex human made concepts. Argueing in favour of retribution might be possible for a humanist as long as it`s clear that the rights of every person may not be restricted too far whatever the circumstances.

No, but it might help in your case.

Then that plank of Humanitas would need to be altered to be less categorical.

No, I don`t think so. We`re educated and tolerant enough to accept fuzzy categories.

Why have categories at all then? Sounds kind of oppressive.

How does a Humanist deal with an aggressive individual/nation.
Our genes maybe in the basement but it does not stop us chosing our point of view from the top.

You protect yourself. But you try to avoid physical violence or even destruction as much as possible. Because you respect and love the aggressor .
And you will never follow the idea of a preventive war

Mahadma Gandhi is a great example for it. And shows that it does not mean look away and do nothing.

So you say no wars of agression. What if its against an evil dictator whose killed over 100,000 of his own people.

No, seriously, I think we should respond to aggression with all necessary force. Just not a bit more.

You are welcome. Just define what is necessity, please. I know that pacifism is seen very contrary. Some even refuse to use violence when they are attacked. Like Gandhi. I really respect that. He had his way to fight for his ideas. Others only use violence to defend themselves or their families. That is alright too.
I would not accept that war or violence is acceptable if you cannot reach your goals with peaceful means. Or any kind of preventive war.

Caesar, great to have you here! Did they kick you out of the Left Wing Club? Let's firts have a drink
