    Default Plague in Macedonia

This happens around the 13th year of game play and on my recent roman campaign I have never seen it worse. Every city on the Greek Peninsula was at less than 700 for their population and still dropping. I had 6 cities on Greece at the time and lost them all because every army I sent to retake the city contracted the plague and died, but some how the macedonian armies were unaffected even though their cities were breaking apart.

In the end the Senate did nothing but tell me to retake the cities, which were at 500 population and couldnt build anything else, and when retaken caused my troops to die from the plague in addition to their generals... It wasn't worth it. I made a new game.

I seem to remember hearing something about a plague in Macedonia happening early in the game being written into the game. Your armies probably contracted the plague because they entered affected cities, and the Macedonian armies were not affected becuase they probably didn't enter any of the cities with the plague (or were very lucky). However, I am surprised about the rate at which your armies seem to have died.

Good luck with your new game file!

I don't have a clue why the plague isn't limited to thessalonika. If the maks had any sense they would stop it from spreading around.

If you are one of the unfortunate people who gets the plague, there's one thing you can do... just get a spy and put him in the infected town. Then, take him out, put him on a ship and get him to infiltrate one of your enemy's towns/cities. Now they have the plague as well!

    I enjoy the plague
As weird as it may sound,
I looked at squalor, unrest, etc. in the ludus Magnus section of RTW.
A I found out that texes are not affected by the population (or something similar)
Thus, if one city if at 26000 people, and you have built the Imperial Palace, or whatever corresponding building, then your city will stay at that level, have all benefits, and have a small squalor level compared to a similar city that stayed at 26000.

    Have you just been dumped?

I ask because it's usually something like that which causes outbursts like this, needless to say I dissagree completely.

Only one reason for this plague spread seems possible: enemy spies from infected settlements spreading it to yours. Ignore the Senate missions asking you to retake them. The health of your generals is more important by far than your standing with those bureaucrats.
