    Default What's your capital?

I always make a province my capital, when I play as the Turks I take over constantinople and build a lot of buildings in it, almost all of the buildings, making it my capitol.

Whenever I play in central Europe I make Ile De France my empire's capitol. When in the south eastern region, I make either Constantinople or Palestine my capitol.
The Balkans, I make Bosnia (BKB mod) my capitol.
North Europe, I make Wales my capitol. and North eastern, I make Moscowy my capitol :)

Is there a benefit to it being you’re capitol or is that just where you hang your helmet?

I like to keep my king at a coastal province (it better be well developed, my king deserves the best) so he can connect with all his subjects. I think I read somewhere that this helps his influence and to keep down the bad vices in governors. Don’t know if it does but that is what I do.

Do the French, HRE, Polish, etc. have issues with influence later in the game if the king is at a landlocked capitol?

If I am playing British, I would pick Wessex and then make Constanopal my sister city. But as a whole, by the time I get there, Wessex is still a little better but its too far to do any good.

But, I wish you could play the game WITH CAPITALS, I think it would be cool to take it over and the whole empire fell into civil war. I mean, you take over Washington DC and the US isn't going to just be OKAY with it and move on, we would struggle like hell for a while.

I usually use Bavaria. 2 reasons:
    A) It is almost DEAD CENTER in the world map
    B) Patriotic reasons

I love Constantinople, and I take it as soon as possible if I'm playing Catholic.

Currently, in my VI campaign, West Seuxe is my capital, as it can produce all my major troop types with big morale bonuses, plus 2 valour spies.

Building cathedrals and surgeon colleges etc is usually pointless, if I have a fortress I'm going to use it for advanced units and upgrade and in my famous english expert campaign, before the end I was using all of my fortresses and citadel provinces to advance my military buildings further with very few spare to turn into a capital. I just keep my king in a coastal province which I'm not using for military building and build a spearmaker, swordsmith and bowyer so that new kings appear there everytime they are crowned. He's the king of a huge empire, he can do whatever he wants, he doesn't need loads of palaces.

That, plus the morale and income benefits are pretty nice too.

If capital means place were I put my king, it's prefered to be Lithuania, Kiev, Toulouse, Aragon, Navarre and another one with A (next to Toulouse), in late game. Care to guess why?

Not always that I bother with it though, but I always follow these rules: Costal province and never on a island.
We are all aware that the senses can be deceived, the eyes fooled. But how can we be sure our senses are not being deceived at any particular time, or even all the time? Might I just be a brain in a tank somewhere, tricked all my life into believing in the events of this world by some insane computer? And does my life gain or lose meaning based on my reaction to such solipsism?

I believe Aquitaine is the province you're referring to--only the best wine for your king!

And yes, I also generally avoid making an island my capital--which makes playing as the Sicilians very interesting sometimes.....

No doubt a capital on the water with a strong navy is best. I usually just make the factions best coastal provincemy capital or a rich province.

    Prime canidates for capitals-
    Fladers
    constantinople
    venice
    sicily

All of these can be filthy rich with trade income and are on the coast.

Sweden, with its iron, copper, and trade goods it makes a wonderful place to put my king in the matured game (after I have complete control of the seas). I can build more buildings here than in any other province. In the beginning of the game I make sure to have armourer/weaponsmith in my capital as soon as possible. (Castile, Leon, Tuscany, are my secondary choices, with access to the seas and iron and trade or iron and mines).

I haven't been making my 'capital' in a coastal province , but
that will change asap as my crusades have had to go through several other
provinces to get to the coast or toward the crusade goal , draining
    troops as they go.

By the time I have a spare citadel, I'm using it to build advanced military buildings and I already have a few churches in non-cathloic provinces who have been churning out bishops for decades. So cathedrals lose their allure.

Capital? Depends on who I'm playing as, mate!

If I'm playing as the Turks, then Constantinople is my captial.

    ...

It has come to my Turkish Sultan's attention that he does not yet own Constantinople. He is now mustering his forces to rectify this situation immediately. In the meantime, the Sultan has decided that Rum is a good a place as any to hang his helmet.

If I'm playing as the Byzantines, then, well, Constantinople will be the capital. I can see those dirty Turks eyeing this place up from Rum. And building up their forces. Hmm... suspicious..
