Thread: LOTR: The Fifth Age

I know what your thinking, but this this would'nt just beanother LOTR mod. I know people are already working on a mod called the Fourth Age, but this mod would be very different. I just thought it would be fun to make a mod loosely based on LOTR, but where you were able to use your imagination more and come up with storylines for what happened in the Fourth Age and stuff so you can make up your own factions completely from scratch. Would'nt it be great making up entire nations yourself and making up thier history so you can choose thier appearance and how they fight? Anyway, this was just a rough idea but if anyones interested they can send me their ideas.

I'm planning to use the full 20 faction limit for this mod, so if I get lots of ideas from people I'll keep the best ones. Heres and example of the kind of ideas I'm looking for.

Men of Morgul:

After the defeat of Sauron, Gondor reclaimed the ancient fortress of Minas Morgul from the orcs. However, when the new Dark Lord rose in the Fifth Age, the Men of Morgul began to worship him, and became as evil as any orcs. The Men of Morgul are excellent warriors due to their combination of the skill and discipline of Gondorians and the viciousness of the Mordor orcs. Here are some examples of units they could use:

The Black Guard: Similar to Gondors Citadel Guard, these men are heavily armoured and carry a large shield and great halberd for effectiveness against both armour and cavalry. They are highly disciplined, and are the official guards of Minas Morgul.

Morgul Knights: The Men of Morgul were gifted Wargs by the Dark Lord, and taught how to use them well. These Knights are heavily armoured, and ride Wargs, making them fearsome opponents.

Is there any reason why you posted this in the General forum rather than in the Forge?

I thought the Forge was only for mods that were under development. This mod is still just in the idea stage.

Thanks, but its not really a LOTR mod. People can make up stuff for what happened in the Fourth Age, and invent from scratch thier own nations and teams. If they want a team almost irrelevant to LOTR, they could say people or some form of creatures sailed over to Middle-Earth in the Fourth Age and settled there, for example.

What would be fun - and why no one has done this I do not know - is create a parody mod (not necessarily LOTR or even fiction-based, it could be hysterical...I mean historical in nature).

Here are some ideas:

Rome: Total Relativism
The Whirl of Time: Total War
Muddle-earth: Total War
Shivery: Total War
Rome: Total Bore
Rome: Teetotal War

You get the idea. :)

20 new parody factions with 300 units? that would be a waste of work...

could take vanilla and add silly hats to the barbarians and give them toyswords and fake beards. also, you could give germans giant balls as they were quite known for that, and maybe have a pure female faction which are screaming and complaining so devestating that all morale is lost.

Rome: Total Bore > simple modding, you can only make spies and diplomats and no units.

Rome: Total Cowards > mod all units to have 1 morale, all General traits to lower morale.

Rome: Totally Slow> all units take 10 turns to build and buildings take hundreds.

Btw,
Why Fifth Age? If your units have little similarities to the LOTR lore that's widely known, why not just change the names and market it as an original?

LOL.

Or you could "mix and match", have say Emperor Palpatine's Imperial forces fighting against Rand al'Thor in ancient Europe...The One Power versus The Dark Side of the Force... :)
