Default Favorite Concert You've Ever Seen

I just went to see a concert held by WXPN (a commercial free radio station based around Philly, I think) last night, and saw the Drive By Truckers. They were quite good, though they only played an hour (well, I did only play 10 bucks, and I don't think they were allowed to come out for an encore, though we cheered ), and it got me thinking what you're all favorite concert you've seen is. It doesn't have to be the best, just you're favorite.

Mine was the Allman Brothers Band, March 20th in the Beacon Theater this year. It was incredible, they played for 3 hours, and they were on! They didn't just play their hits either, but played a great mix of classics and new stuff. It was just incredible. They had great jams, but they were very tight.

Gawain, I particullary await your choice...

A very good question, there have been so many this could be difficult. My favourite would be Mogwai in Melkweg, Amstedam due to the perfectly set-up sound system coupled with the typically epic Mogwai climaxes.
Other favourite concerts were by Eels (Groningen), Opeth (Utrecht), A Silver Mt. Zion (Haarlem I think), and 13&God (Amsterdam).

U2 vertigo tour, Hampden. Man! First concert I've been to. Haven't been to anyother concerts. It was spectacular.

This is tough as when i go to a concert i expect to be the pit for a few hours and crowd surfing as much as possible. The best band i have seen live music wise is Incubus but for atmosphere and carnage in the pit it would have to be Amen, Slipknot( I know they looked down upon but you can't take away there pit credentials and One Minute Silence.

Ive been to so many its hard to say. Ill leave out the Beatles at Shea since all you could hear was the girls screaming. I guess Ill go with my top 3 if you dont mind.

Frank Zappa at the paladium on halloween while the were making the album Zappa live in NY

Pink Floyd the Wish you were here-Animals tour on the 4th of July.

The Whos tenth aniversary concert at Madison Square Garden was truly an awesome expereience.

So many more and thats not counting those I worked Like the Wall tour.

I scalped the ticket at the entrance for 20 bucks. That was a lot of money though back in the 70s

Tough question. Krisiun was really good, but I'm sure Cryptopsy and Aborted in October will bump that from the top spot. Cannibal Corpse was a really good show, too, if only so I could say I was front row at Cannibal Corpse.

    Nice Gawain. Very nice.

I like country music, so the Toby Keith and Rascal Flatts (just before RF got big) is my favorite conventional concert by famous people.

But at Friends University of Central Kansas (he he he...proper school name...and what are the initials?) their Symphony of Spring is always good. Maybe that does not count, but still, I love those shows.

Some of the most memorable concerts I've been to were Pat Travers/Crash and Burn, Tears for Fears/Song from the Big Chair, Jeff Beck/Guitar Shop, Floyd/the Wall, and Trent (NiN)/Fragile. But I think Kansas, at a Day on the Green/Oakland Colliseum back in the late 70s, takes my cake. They were just incredible back then.

    I worked there! Small world...

The elvis gig, where they have a huge screen and the real band, eas surprisingly good believe it or not...

Pink Floyd-pulse was amazing but I love watching lynyrd skynyrd rock out.

Lancelot, I have three excellent albums. One is a double album more or less about the South in the 60s and 70s, and is sort of about Lynyrd Skynyrd. It's called Southern Rock Opera. It's good, but they don't have one of there guitarist/songwriter/singers yet.
The one that came out after that is Decoration Day. It's quite good, it is closer to the current line up, and has a good mix of aucostic songs. Possibely my favorite.
The latest one is Dirty South. It is the current line up of the band, and is similar in style to Decoration Day.

If you want more info, I can find the website for you. Which one do you have? And I'm glad that I finally found another person who knows who DBT is.

Xavier Rudd in a concert hall last winter. I've seen a good number of concerts, but no live performance holds a candle to his musical energy; and he's the only one on stage.

Pink Floyd in Montreal '87. Division Bell tour. 20th row on the floor dead center.

Roger Waters solo tour about the same time. Lots of fun. Very circus like atmosphere. Lots of

    Iron Butterfly in '84.

Chuck Mangione in '84. Incredible musicians!

Pinchas Zuckerman in Montreal. Just him with his violin and a grand piano backup. Beyond belief.

Am jealous. My dad's always going on about the bands he saw when he was but a lad, it doesn't half make me wish I was born a couple of decades earlier.

    I have southern rock opera.

I was thinking of a more generic album, too see what their 'regular' stuff is like...

Any other southern rock recommendations? I heard the Charlie Daniels Band was supposed to be good...

I'd suggest Decoration Day or Dirty South.

    Classic Southern Rock Groups:
Lynyrd Skynyrd - The most obvious. Great mix of rockin songs and aucostic stuff. I'd suggest Pronounced, or Street Survivors
Allman Brothers Band - Jammy Blues Based, my personal favorite. The original Southern rock group.
Marshal Tucker Band - Country/Blues Based Rock
Charlie Daniels- Even countrier than Marshal Tucker

    Current Souther Rock Groups:
    DBT
Gov't Mule - Sort of an Allman Brothers spin off, they are very jammy
Widespread Panic - very jammy, mix of Allman Brother and the Dead
My Morning Jacket - Not as country, blues or as many jams as the other ones, but still good

I've been to a lot of good concerts, but some do stand out.

Rammstein complete with fire and explosions was quite the experience. Can't remember such heat at any other concert. November 24, 2004, Hellsinki.

Or the frenzied Frenchmen of Burgul Torkhaïn, the 2003 Rotonde winners appearing at the Tuska Festival in Hellsinki? The feeling was just incredible. These guys really knew their technical death metal.

Satyricon in the Tavastia Club, Hellsinki, autumn 2002? There was a warm-up act, but they were mostly useless. The main act could have handled that part themself.

I've been to many, mostly in the 80's- top three would be: Van Halen,
Pink Floyd and Pat Benatar . These days I enjoy listening to
