    Default Light Cavalry

Hmm, let me see if I have the problem straight before I go on: the original problems with RTW were that light cavalry shouldn't be able to wipe the floor with heavy infantry in a head on charge? (I remember my share of insta-routs). If I recall Caesar, he seemed to say more than once something about his cavalry starting to rout again. Should heavy infantry (and especially ones with spears, and even more so the phalanxes) have the "scare cavalry" attribute? Though I suppose the problem being that cataphracts might not be quite as frightened of sword infantry.

yes but will they then still be fearing the cavalry when those phalanx infantry fights with his swords?

I think it would take a special kind of soldier to not question or disobey or panic under orders to charge one's horse into a phalanx. Though I don't really know how effective the "scare" attributes are... it'd be nice if a cowardly horseman wouldturn away even before he hit the phalanx, heh.

The simplest thing to do is just lower the light cavalry's charge bonus to close to nothing. If you give heavy infantry the scare cavalry ability then cavalry would be scared of attacking from the flanks or rear as well. You must remember that these horses (especially for the heavy cavalry) were specially trained warhorses, not just your run-of-the-mill horse from the fields.

Nah. Good light cavalry wouldn't charge a phanlax, but they wouldn't be scared of it.
And the idea of light cavalry having no charge is foolish. Even a lightly armed man on horse would trample a light footman easily. Have you ever seen a horse? Those things are big, and scary.

this afternoon i saw on tv some berserker horses in a city parade, they got berserker and they went over the public, but public was gone so the 2 horses with a charriot in the back went through the chairs and ppl's bags and wow man, that was amazing the power of the charge clear all, bags flying, charis getting bounced to docens of meters... wow

the cameraman was in a side, and believe me, its not like a movie, its much more worse, ppl must have 2 big (_)_) to stand still a horse charge, plus then the horse rider with sword over it....

    totally mad

why get rid of the charge altogether? why are you even charging heavy infantry with light cavalry to begin with? They need their charge bonuses. they're horses in case you had missed that some how in the game.

I only use the light cavalry for quick flanking or to chase routers.

Light cavalry are handy for playing tricks on the enemy, lureing their men away from the main battle and such. Handy tools for playing tactics.
