Thread: Marvel movies getting worse?
King of Atlantis 00:52 07-26-2005
These movies seem to bbe getting worse. The blades got steadily worse, Daredevil was bad, but electra was worse.

And now in the new fantastic four there is only one fight scene in the whole movie. The only marvel movies that seem to have potential are the spiderman movies, but even there i think 2 was worse than 1.

I heard The Thing only said "It's clobbering time!" once in the whole movie.

I haven't seen it yet. Is it really that bad?

Well the effects are cool and stuff, but they spent 95% of the movie developing the characters. They finally fight in the very last seen of the movie.

The Thing does only say it once and he gets the line from a Thing toy.

So, the movie was alright, and being with my friends made it prety fun to watch, but there was so much more potential for what the movie could have been.

F4 isn't that bad. I quite liked it. It not as bad as DareDevil but to be honest i haven't really seen a film that was

I think superhero movies are too much about trying to make the characters 'believable' instead of just trying to be some lighthearted entertainment, what superhero movies should be. I think Spiderman was about the only movie that succeeded in making the creation story fun.

exactly. Theres no way any of this stuff could be real so why not just run loose like the comics and cartoons.

The problem is that they're trying to be too gritty and down to earth. They seem to think audiences want grounding and believable explanations for why the heroes are the way they are and that people crave heroes with 'issues' and emotional baggage.

When I go to see a super-hero film, I want super fight scenes, over the top special effects and non-believable plot lines. As soon as they try to pursue the realism route, they open up criticism on the very grounds of realism. Why not just say, 'somethingman' is the way he is, because that's the way he is? He doesn't have a girlfriend, he doesn't have to balance saving the world with getting his economics diploma and he doesn't have epilepsy.

the only good marvel movies were the x-men movies and the first 2 blades....the rest are crap....

ok...the punisher was watchable....but the guy has no superpowers so it plays out like a straight vengeance flick....not a superhero one.

The Punisher was fun to watch when drunk. Both X-men films were excellent as well as the first two Blade films; in both cases part two was the best as far as I'm concerned. Hopefully part 3 of the X-men series will keep up the high standards. I couldn't stand Spiderman, so I haven't seen the sequel.

The 2nd Blade film was gay.

Sin City is the best comic to film transistion - ever. Probably because the comic creator was actively involved in the filming process.

I heard that F4 was directed by the same guy who directed 'Barbershop'.

And I didn't like Sin City.

Sin City was good but bad casting made it from being great such as Clive "the most boring actor in the world" Owen in it for a start and the middle part of the film being, quite honestly, shite.

Blade 2 was badass imo, Punisher good revenge film and entertaining and X-men 2 lagged in places for me and hearing Vinnie Jones is playing juggernaut in the 3rd film makes me want to cry

Blade 2 was alright, but when watching blade 3 i fell alseep, continued it the next day, fell asleep again, and then finally finished it the next day.

I feel a balance is neccessary-Batman Begins was a great film, mostly because it did the grit, but also had plenty of action.

Although, that's not a Marvel film, so it's not within the scope of this thread really.

I liked Batman Begins, The Story line was pretty good... but I just loved the atmosphere in which it was developed. Also the bad guys in Batman Begins weren't affeminate guys with pink outfits that had a lisp, those guys were truly malevolent, evil people, that you really wouldn't want to meet.

I think it is safe to say that it is either hit or miss with these comic book movies.

a crude but true opinion on dare devil

amen. Instead of being corny like the other batman movies, that movie harsh as all those movies should have been.

I do think that's being a little harsh on the 1989 "Batman" with Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson. I think that one takes the cake, but with "Batman Begins" coming a close second.

"Batman Forever" and "Batman & Robin" were both shite. "Batman Returns"? ... I'm not sure what to think about this one. I felt that it's plot was terribly contrived. And it seems kind of lame that the fate of Gotham City was decided by a bunch of fairy penguins with firecrackers on their backs.

A.

Fantastic Four was weird. Building up, building up, building up, it's over.

And that's the end. Where the hell did all the middle scenes go?!

Batman Returns was great man, i really enjoyed it. But the latter two should be locked in a vault with Tommy "I overact all the time and i'm still wank" Lee Jones and threw into the Atlantic Ocean and never spoke of again
