Thread: Unit arrival by trigger?

  1. #1

    Default Unit arrival by trigger?

Is it possible to trigger the arrival of certain units by date or even (like lets say a Carthaginian force wipes out a large Roman force like at Cannae - the Roman Senate immediately raises a new army) due to battlefield occurances? Looking into this for the ZTW mod actually as I want certain units like regimental colours to be 'non-recruitable' but arrive by event.

    Thanks,

It's possible through a script. There's a create_unit command which you can use to create a unit in a settlement using any of the scripting conditional criteria (date, number of settlements, conquest of particular settlements, loss of settlements, construction of buildings and on and on). Battlefield occurences can be done as well, there are plenty of conditionals around stuff that happened on the battlefield for trait purposes that can be used in scripting.

ZTW is using a multiple turns script right? It can be integrated inside that easily enough. Have a look at the Beginners Guide to Scripting on the Scriptorium, that guide itself isn't what you want to use, but the links at the bottom contain most of what's generally known about scripting.
