    Default The Myth Series

I think the Myth series was the best tactical series after RTW. It had nearly impossible missions even on the first level. The deph of game options and the storyline was extraordinary.
What is your opinion on Myth?

i got Myth 2 out of a bargain bin about 3 years ago for $5 CAD

it was by far the very worst RTS that i ever had the misfortune of playing

i will give credit where credit is due. the narration was great. the music was great. the story was great. the mature, gritty violence was great.

other than that, it was a horrible game

as far as i can tell, 90%+ of the "gameplay" of Myth 2 consists of struggling with the camera angle which you have to be constantly moving manually at all times with keys on your keyboard. and to add insult to injury, it wasn't very responsive either.

in terms of gameplay, that was an absolute dealbreaker for me.

i eventually just started putting in "skip to the next level" cheat codes in one after the other so i could hear the awesome narration in-between the levels

and i am the type of gamer who abhorrs cheat codes and will rarely ever use them. i only use them as an absolute last resort after several hundred hours of struggling with a game. and i'm pretty good at playing games so if i have to struggle that long chances are it is because the game i'm playing, is not worth playing

to sum up: Myth gets a major thumbs down from me

I voted a poor option not because I hate the game but because I don't think it rivals any other strategy game out there.
Sure it is quite old now but I used to play Myth: The Fallen Lords all the time, it was great for those sessions inbetween other games you are playing when you become bored or something.
It did provide me with some great fun at times but not in large enough doses to be classed as a great game.
However I suggest that if you do not own the game and are seeking some short thrills and something a bit different then go buy it for like 99p.

Given how long ago it came out, it was a great game.

I liked Myth. It was very atmospheric, and had a good papers-scissors-rock dynamic between the units that kept you scrambling during combat. The camera was a bit annoying, but I think I got the hang of it after a while. There was always a very convincing feeling of dread as the higher level beasties crawled towards you while you frantically rearranged your units.

the first myth game is easily one of the best games ever made. the 2nd one was nothing new, unfortunately. the third one.. well, let's not talk about that.

btw, lotr bfme is exceptionaly awful as an rts. it's pretty though.
now i'm here, and history is vindicated.

I always liked the comment by the dwarf after he'd blown up some of your own men (usually in a critical portion of a battle). Something like "oops my mistake".

I think I got a Dwarf through the whole second game. He had sooo many kills...

Fighting isn't about winning, it's about depriving your enemy of all options except to lose.

Myth was the most fun game ever concieved.
    1. The lines ware brilliant ( the easter eggs ware cool )
    2. It was paradoxal ( simple strategy and insane tactics and coordination)
    3. The storyline rivaled all other RTS storylines ( btw.... some people are trying to produce a movie from the Myth scenarios)
