Anyone know how to edit the banners on buildings like walls? I can't seem to find the text file that controls it or the actual .dds/TGA files being used.
I guess the dds files are in one of the pack files, were the other battlemap models and textures reside.

I haven't seen the dds for this in the pack files. Does anyone know where these are located exactly? I would think they would be the second set of banner textures (main set is in models/textures) that you can find in models_buildings/textures, but I can't get them to change yet. I've seen somewhere that they were hard to change - does anyone have any information on this at all? Very interested!![]()
Hi,
I think that those banners are in the models_building_textures.pak.
Once unpacked, you have a folder DATA\MODELS_UNITS\TEXTURES and there files named ##STANDARD_FACTIONNAME.TGA.DDS. I imagine you are looking for those files.
The only difficulty would be that you must repak the modified banners for the final version of the mod.
I've got a fully unpacked build and thought that any changes in those files would be recognized then without repacking, but I've not been able to see them yet. Thanks for the advice.
That's all!!Shows I don't usually mess around with any of those buildings like that. I'll try it out immediately. Terima kasih banyak-banyak!!
Ah. Ok, if you just try placing new ones over the old ones, it won't do anything. Apparently it just uses a packed version. But if you insert new names into that text file, it will look for the new one. Thanks again for pointing it out!
Is there a way to get it to look for specific rebel culture groupings and their flags? Or will it just always use the generic 'slave' one?

EDIT:
There are also sprites that work with these. Where would these be? They apparently are referring to something packed, as I can see the vanilla ones still there. Even though I changed the names of the files that are used (to get around the fact that they were referencing packed files before), they still are referencing sprites somewhere. Any ideas on how to change these?

I think rebel flags are specified in desc_banner or something like that. Each faction get a specific rebel banners, depending on a region's original ownership (not the region they currently hold).
Sprites? For banners or units? 'cause banners don't use sprites.
PS. You speak indo? :)
Well, when I zoom out from the gatehouse, I can see the old Macedonian flag (with the lambda - the vanilla one), but when I zoom in my new Macedonian flag (the one I have now listed in the text file you pointed me too) shows up. A different one. So either it's using a sprite or it's somehow 'programmed' into a file somewhere what the flags look like at distance. I don't know how it works really, but that's clearly what is happening.
Nah, don't know indo, but remember a little Malay. I think that was the same phrase in Malay too.
try models_buildings/TEXTURES/ ##STANDARD_FACTION textures.
Yeah, those are the ones I have changed - and indeed they do work. Just a quick glance at this image will show that I have changed the Macedonian ones here to have their star instead of a lambda:
*But* if you look closely, on the image on the left, you can see that while the new ones are visible on the far left side of the tower, even the same flag turns to the old orange lambda when it's viewed from an angle more. You can see the lambda on the outer wall flag on top of that tower.
You can also see the "tall" flags that hang down are the new ones (on the left), but if I zoom out, they revert back to the old ones. I've zoomed in and you can see what happens.
So what gives there? How are these old ones showing up still? Anyone know?
