How to change spear length?

Is there anyway to edit the lengh of spearmen's spears? I have seen some with 12 foot spears, whilst others only have 8 foot spears. However I looked in the text and I could only change between sassara and current spear length. Can it be done without editing the model?

You can edit the physical model and make the spear longer. However.... you may get some odd visual effects. Also, I have always kept spears to roughly stock lengths when messing about with weapons, since I have no idea if you can change the distance at which the weapon is deemed ' effective' by the computer. You may end up with spears sticking through the enemy but doing no damage....
